His "bad play" has been excessively exaggerated. Every time his name was brought up during the broadcast on Saturday, they would touch on how he has been the weak link and how teams pick on him in coverage, but not once did they bring up any stats to back that... Although they did mention that he is kind of the fall guy because the defense is so good.
I was starting to feel bad for the guy.
Change the narrative, have another game this week young man.
He may not be a bad player, but he is the weakest link in our defense, and offensive coordinators are not dumb. They will construct an entire game plan around exploiting him. So it makes sense that he would give up lots of passes. Some of the best DBs never get balls thrown in their direction at all. I'm glad he had a good game. It's too soon to crown him, but I hope he keeps making progress. On the downside, Charvarius Ward had an off game. Let's home he gets beter too.
Yeah, he's not bad, but if I had a choice between attacking the two Wards and Lenoir... I'd go after Lenoir.
All in all though, I feel much better with our secondary than where we were last year. Last year, we had Josh Norman and guys off the street... QB's literally just threw it up, and those guys would just panic and commit Defensive Pass Interference.
This year, Lenoir is at least in usually in position and has a chance to at least contest the ball. He's also making some nice tackles in the run game, so he's doing a solid job stepping into the CB2 role when Moseley went down.
