Definitely feel the FO is making another poor choice in a long line of poor choices at QB.

idk If we trade him though. I always said that if we did, it would be around this time but I'm not sure
Personally, I still feel the way I did a few days ago. I said this on my podcast last night but I think Darnold will be game-day QB2 as a guy to finish out a game if needed. However, if Brock were to suffer a serious injury, like Lance last year, then I think Lance is the guy. Basically, resume the development schedule of 2022. If Brock were to get injured late in the year, a la Jimmy, then I think Darnold is the guy.
Fact is, Lance needs a runway of games to take-off and get acclimated to the NFL. They had the potential for that last year if he started all year to get going by playoff time. That was the goal.

Hope wherever he goes, he gets the chance to play and become a good QB. Damn shame
Sam Darnold has played well in camp, grabbing the opportunity behind Brock Purdy. He's earned it. No doubt, this will be a decision Trey Lance will take hard. SF will now explore options with him. Prior to the Draft, there were a few trade discussions. Perhaps those will pick up. https://t.co/KBm8Kf7gML

If true shanahan and Lynch must not be allowed to ever evaluate a qb again.
Throwing 3 firsts out of the window and giving up on the player without ever seeing him in a rythm of games. Wow

Sam Darnold clearly outplayed Trey, so this is not a surprising new at all. Not sure why many people in this forum refusing to connect all the dots.

#49ers QB Sam Darnold was named the team's No. 2 QB, per me and @TomPelissero. He'll be the backup to Brock Purdy to begin the season.

This further puts the future of former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance in some doubt. pic.twitter.com/ig7PVp4lgn
is this the real rapoport?
Yup, man they're really gonna move him.
The #49ers are naming Sam Darnold their No. 2 quarterback and the team is exploring options with Trey Lance, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Darnold will back up Brock Purdy, while the future of Lance — the No. 3 overall pick in 2021 — is unclear. pic.twitter.com/HxXQkfM6nq
