TBF we didn't have a shallow threat either. Last year was sucky

That doesn't answer the question... The poster asked if I've ever "heard of walking and chewing gum". Ok if you want to chew gum(throw deep)you need a stick of gum(deep threat) in order to do it. Something we didn't have last year and have yet to persue this year. It's almost like people haven't watched Shanny and his run first, ball control, YAC offense and laughably think he's going to become some vertical offense overnight even though he's never been that guy and never will be. People are living in fantasy land.

Kyle's offense is based around YAC. Sanders just proved why Mac is the front runner. It was a terrible take from him.

Actually no it wasn't. His take was that Mac Jones benefitted from talent, that his stats were mostly from YAC vs Fields who only benefitted from 33%. If Fields were to play in a system where he was able to benefit more from YAC, similar to Jones, then his stats would be far better than they are now.

Actually it does as Kyle's offense is based on YAC. The rest is speculation while YAC are pure fact. One guy has shown that he can put the ball where it needs to be for guys like Aiyuk, Debo, and Kittle, the other has shown he hasn't been asked to.

Watch the first few minutes of the tweet above. Just because our fans don't want him because he's not mobile and exciting doesn't mean he's not a good QB. He fits exactly what Shanny likes in guys like Jimmy, Kirk, Nick, Sudfield, Hoyer and every SINGLE other QB he's brought in. Every single one.

This is one of the most rediculous posts trying to justify Mac over Fields I have seen so far. Good job OneNDone. That was a good laugh

So do y'all think that Deebo will really switch to #1?

And if so, what number will Fields wear after we draft him?

Props to you.

he also had elite pass protection... i am glad we got mack.. but we will see what happens when the pass protection. GASP.. is not good for him

There is also film showing him operating well when the PP broke down. It was not always a clean pocket. Also, the film shows he was reading the defense well and got rid of the ball before the rush hit him.

I'm not saying Fields or Lance won't bust, but nobody is arguing the possibilities they present in comparison to Jones and wouldn't Kyle be the coach to get the most out of them etc.

I just don't see much improvement with Jones other than being younger, cheaper, and hopefully healthier. I'd love to be wrong, but my gut tells me if they do this it's a dead end.

Go back and watch more Jones film. He has better ball placement - rarely do you see a receiver have to slow or come off their route to make the catch. His arm strength is certainly better - watch his outside-the-numbers throws. Watch how he uses his eyes and subtle body movement to influence DBs. His footwork is better - he gets good weight transfer to his front foot when throwing. All of those little things make him a better QB than Jimmy.

I'm not saying he is my preference. I am only pointing out that Jones is a lot better than many are claiming.

He is more accurate, but I believe JG has a stronger arm. Thats what my eyes tell me. Jones accuracy with anticipation is fantastic and with that noodle he needs it, but Alabama is not the NFC west defenses etc.

Disagree on arm strength.

Im not sure how you aren't getting this. Go watch Mac Jones highlights. Just the highlights, not actual game footage, and you will see a few reoccurring themes. A: he has ALL freaking day to throw on most of those highlights B: his WR's have LOTS of room between them and their opponent. When WR's have LOTS of room between them and their less talented opponent it makes it easy to accumulate YAC stats which is why the YAC is a detriment to Jones in that comparison. In other words it's easy to hit WIDE open WR's who run for all kinds of yards/td's. Understanding yet?

Well I am right, and you are wrong. What do I win???

It's marginal, but I think Jimmy has more zip when needed. Also Jones will not enjoy wide open anticipation of routes like at Alabama so I worry there.

I think wysiwyg with Jones which isn't necessarily a bad thing in Kyles offense per say, but I am not sure how that will translate at the NFL level for Jones and i certainly don't value that at 3 with the next 2 drafts first rounders as well etc. I feel like he will just be a step too slow or weak. Which is what we've lived with he past 4 years already.

It's called scheming. Something Kyle(and Sarkisian) does an absolute fantastic job of doing. Now put in a QB that is mobile and may or may not use his legs and unscheme Kyle's offense. Kyle is no longer in control thus his offense isn't being ran the way he wants it to. His offense, the offense that runs and gets the ball into playmakers hands for YAC.

It makes absolute perfect sense why he likes a guy that has shown he can put the ball where it needs for his playmakers, the guys he drafted STRICTLY for YAC, to get those yards.

I hate being a jerk but I swear our fans don't actually pay attention to what Kyle likes to do. If he wanted a mobile QB he would've gotten one but instead who does he get? Sudfield, Nick Mullens, Jimmy, f**king Cousins, he supposedly made a play for Stafford. Quit hating me for pointing out common sense. There's a legit reason all the rumors and even Vegas are calling Mac to the 49ers. Don't blame me, I'm just pointing out the obvious reasons. Very obvious reasons.

I actually want other guys but I'm not Shanahan, I simply understand why he would like Mac. I don't let my feeling get in the way. I want to be wrong

It has very little to do with scheme and a LOT to do with talent disparity that Jones won't enjoy at the NFL level.

Also don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back for being able to identify what is painfully obvious in regard to what Shanahan prefers in a QB. Very few are arguing who the pick will be at this point. The debate is the wisdom of doing so. Imo Shanahan and Lynch both are morons if they traded to 3 for Mac Jones.

There is plenty of film of Jones throwing into tight windows. Tight is tight.
