Play callers aren't the QB, so that's why I didn't include it.

And yeah, I think they'll make the same mistake again. BTW no hindsight was necessary to see that Brady was better than Garoppolo in 2019. The only question was if he was worth it given that he had two years max. But anyone who thought Garoppolo was as good as Brady in 2019 needs to take off their homer glasses.

Would you not say that play calling is a huge part of QB play?

Perhaps KS thought he had the better of Brady after beating him and JG is someone that is completely under Kyles command and is serviceable enough?

After all KS doesn't need a Brady when he has a good D and he can make the offense do magic,,,,, and he nearly pulled it off.

Time for new scouts coaches and GM ?

At some point they need to be who they are and hang their hat on that.

I think when JG came up as an option it put KS in a spin. He may have been so focused on what/who he wanted that when New England came calling he was rushed in to a decision that most coaches/GMs would have made?

So the real issue is not the elite QBs available for the regime, It's more about the strength of depth for mine.

Unless of course you want a new regime..............and after the previous ones post Walsh except Harbs, who wants to go through all that again now?

Ironically I made similar comments.

So ShanaLynch had their man when these draft picks and Brady came up and 20/20 hind sight is a beautiful thing.

Do you think they make the same scouting mistake again?

Your item 6 is a huge intangible and the play caller should be on your list even though we already have a good one.

No doubt JG is a broken QB and it is time for a good replacement to be developed.

Maybe your list is in the scouts check list and we get one this draft but anything less than the Texans QB in trades/FA would be a backward step imo.

Devils advocate, how do we know Watson is, "great"?

He hasn't win anything, hasn't been doing it year after year for a while.

That's kind of like saying Cam Newton is great. He had some great seasons but can we really say Cam was great?

Because

1. He has an elite arm

2. He has elite field vision/anticipation

3. He has elite processing speed

4. He has zero fear, including of the pass rush and the moment (funny thing, he showed this in college in the National Championship too - which btw, he WON, so therefore he has indeed won something)

5. He has elite football intelligence, including staying in control in moments of chaos; notably in the playoffs a couple years ago

6. He's a natural leader. Go ahead and say leaders don't hold out. And then remember that Jerry Rice did it for 37 days, Phillip Rivers did it (universally respected leader), Emmitt Smith did it, Brett Favre did it (in solidarity with Javon Walker), and on and on.

7. He is supremely dedicated to the craft

And to top it off he's put up phenomenal, elite production, and has elite athleticism.

Why don't you take the time you use to make apologist videos for Jimmy to study Watson?

Cause it takes time to make that kind of video, time I don't have right now. I've made it through 9 games of his season....it takes a long time to get through film, but you jackholes never seem to understand that.

What you're talking about is that Watson is very talented. But we're talking great. Great is different, to me. When I think of great I'm thinking of Joe, Tom, Drew, Peyton - guys who have done it consistently for a long time and win meaningful games.

Watson isn't great yet. But sure, y'all dismiss it because he's your wet dream qb.

Cam won an MVP. With thatt logic, Marino wasn't that good bc he never won a SB.

And for someone who breaks down film, you really need an answer to your Watson question...?

Marino also did it over his entire career. Are we really saying that Marino and Newtons careers, at this juncture, are comparable?

Lamar Jackson has also won an MVP, is he a great quarterback? I think he's a special player, but great quarterback? He's not winning the Ravens a SB by throwing, at least not at this point. Maybe if he keeps developing.
What makes a great 49ers QB? A Super-Bowl ring. That's the way Joe built it, that's how it'll always be.

With Patrick Maholmes and Lamar Jackson entering the league the expectation is to almost immediately start winning championships and to throw 40+ TDs a season, which makes it seem like anyone who doesn't is garbage.

Of course, a team can win without an "Elite QB", ie 2000 Ravens. Up until this point the 49ers have relied heavy on defense and run game to win. So the question the 49ers need to ask is go and get their Jackson/Maholmes type guy or stick with winning with team defense and a ground and pound run game.

Kyle *could* have done a LA Rams kind of deal for your guy, but he didn't. That's a *fact*, vs your conjecture and theory.
