As long as we have a solid defense too.

But my vote still goes to Jimmy.

Kap.

as if fans think they know more than Shanahan and the actual coaching staff in regards to scheme fit LOL
They all suck all of them chocked in the playoff. Garcia, kaep, gotropolow

Each had their strengths.

Overall, I'm saying Alex. He never flamed out and continued to win on every team he played for after us.

Alex Smith, really?? If there was any QB who needed an All-Pro team around him it was him. If people say Jimmy didn't do anything and it was all run game and defense, then what the heck did Smith do in 2011?? 17 passing TD's for real??

I get that people are still mercilessly harping on him for not being a "gunslinger" here with the fantastic WR corps of out-of-the-league Crabtree and Brett Swain, players that couldn't really have their play elevated much more than where they already were. I was okay with him limiting mistakes to give us a chance in those games.

Regardless of QB, we were a power running team that never had the arsenal to be higher flying until 2012 where Alex was on pace for roughly 25 TDs, but unfortunately got hurt mid-season. No question he was never on the level of a guy like Mahomes or other hyper-elites, but he was smart AF, taking calculated risks and playing efficiently to give the team a chance to win more often than not. Smith was more clutch as well, orchestrating five game-winning drives in 2011, three in 2014, and three in 2016. Kaepernick only had 3 GWD once in his career.

So yes, I would take 2012 Alex over him, as well as over 2019 Jimmy G. Sure, Jimmy slings it, but his pre-snap reads and decision-making are not even in the same galaxy as Alex. Nor is his deep ball. Colin was a one-read QB who couldn't throw a fade if his life depended on it. Kaepernick, who has a losing record as a starter, never passed for more than 21 TDs in a season, never passed for more than 3400 yds in a season, and never came close to matching Smith's best two QB ratings. Smith has 3 Pro Bowls under his belt, more than the other two combined (0). In the end, the decision was not that hard between those guys.

for real lol
Jimmy is the best, but not by enough to warrant his contract sadly, especially given his relative fragility and how we are designed to let the QB take a few hits.

Hands down Kaepernick! Had he stayed off social media and quit listening to the talking heads on tv he would still be headlining the dual threat QB position.

Unfortunately for him he decided he wanted to prove the doubters wrong that he wasn't a pocket passer. which was never his game and he quit running thus quit being the QB that allowed him to take Alex Smith's job.

Now here we sit in what should be his prime and glorifying the running QBs.

He picked the wrong thing to stay true 5o himself on.

What has Jimmy done to deserve that title? He was carried to the SB with a run game and top defense. The defense and run game is gone this year and you see the real Jimmy. I voted Gabbert because when it comes to bang for the buck, Gabbert easily tops the other QBs. He doesn't lose SBs and is currently on his 5th team which shows he is a coveted asset around the NFL.

Completely agree with this. I picked Alex because to me, the decision-making, durability, mobility and pre-snap mental game of his were all superior to Jimmy. Jimmy throws guys open more and has a quick release. But he's not yet proven to be better, but to be fair, it's reasonable to think it's because the sample size is smaller.

Lol you do realize Alex was a 1 read QB that couldn't throw a fade to save his life, right?

Kap played 1 full season with a competent franchise. Alex got 7 years with competent franchise's.

Pro bowls mean nothing, especially when Kap deserved to go in 2013 more than Alex, who pretty much just dumped it off to Charles that entire season.

Alex has had 2 GW drives (Saints and Chargers week 1 2016(?)). All his "GWDs" are just normal drives where his anemic offenses (loaded with talent) would finally take a 19-13 lead. Real clutch situations usually end like the SF game in 2014, or you could just look at yesterday.

You can't compare passer ratings when Alex was checking down to elite talent on 90% of his throws. He was way ahead of Kap and Jimmy on his presnap reads, but that's really all he had. Alex was a crappy checkdown artist that got carried
The coolaid doing overtime when zone legends trolling.

My thoughts exactly.....He doesn't lose Super Bowls, because he's never even sniffed one without buying a ticket.
