Fair point

Lol they shoulda traded his ass before the calf flared up

There's no calf injury, despite what he may say
If he doesn't play or has a bad season due to lack of preparation, it's only going to hurt his asking price next off season.

His agent tried to take advantage of our WR situation and fair enough, that's his job. I hope we don't budge though.

I don't even think it was about the WR situation, but the fact that JJ had a career year that wasn't likely to be replicated. That's when you make the ask.

Players have to realize that when they're asking for a raise and want the team to do something out of the norm (or a practice you don't want players to do often), you have to do it in a certain way.

Let the niners pay for more than just JJ, but culture building. If he worked his ass off and was a great teammate etc, I feel like the Niners would of been happier to pay him but they don't want to encourage this approach by paying him.

who knows if it would of actually worked but I feel like it's the best approach - the Niners would be buying culture and expectation through that type of transaction. There is always the risk he could get hurt but that's just football - he isnr getting Micah parsons type life changing money regardless.

just my 2 cents, i think JJ is awesome and I hope we figure it out. It's just a tough position to put the team in and expect them to cave.

that's a big reason I loved what kittle/brock/warner did this year. Did their job and showed up, while contract negotiations were good. Showed other players how it's done.

Doubt we'll know asking vs offering. I'd be willing to extend him at the right price but also you need to be willing to take less $$ for security.

That's what guys like demo did (he certainly could've gotten quite a bit more in FA).

But there are also countless examples of players betting on themselves and winning.

Hope it gets figured out

I think the difference from the team side is these are premium players (or at least premium importance to our team) and Jennings isn't. The team has made it pretty clear they are drawing a line in the sand with spending and player negotiations this offseason.

I couldn't really agree more with your other recent posts in this thread.

He's way better than Pearsall, it's not even close.

We don't know what Pearsall is going to be this season but we do know that Pearsall has the separation speed that Jennings lacks. We also know Jennings doesn't want to be here.
NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! I'm sick and tired of this repeated b******t every year. Didn't he just sign his current contract last year?? I absolutely do not want to hear about how players "need to get what they can" anymore. You're on the final deal of a long contract that you have significantly outplayed from day 1? Okay, MAYBE there's an argument for some of this but we have players that are sitting out and wanting new deals one year in to the deals they just signed. AND THEY'RE GETTING WHAT THEY WANT! Set a tone, draw a line.

Disagree (and I like JJ).

Jennings wants to get paid, it's not a "I don't want to be here thing"

Ricky is our best man beater with BA injured. Kid runs slick routes and has timing with Brock now. Only thing that's gonna hurt him is staying healthy imo.

I was on a airplane two years ago sitting next to JJ's wife and child coming back from the jax game, she's from Monument, CO and at the time, she was really hoping to get him to play for Denver when his contract is up

Yeah, not sure about this statement. Two different types of receivers tho
