"3rd and Jauan" Jennings l WR Tennessee

I like Jennings a lot. On many other teams he'd be a legit number two, possession type receiver. He deserves more touches than he is ever likely to get here so I suspect he will be gone as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

He is a restricted FA, so we should be able to bring him back one more season. We also have Bell. Hope to see Bell developed.

Should be interesting, but looking at some of his old college scouting reports... they've been accurate.
The guy is extremely physical, shields the ball from defenders, and is just so tough to bring down. It's no wonder he's so great at moving the chains in third down situations from the slot position.

But he lacks deep speed and doesn't have the greatest short-area quickness. IMO, this kind of limits his route tree and him being a good #2 option for another team. I selfishly hope that he doesn't get a lot of interest so he can stay with us for a long time. I think being a slot WR in this offense is the ideal team for him. He really flourishes in third down slants and in/out routes, where he can just use his frame to shield the ball against opposing corners, and then just muscle his way to a first down.

We need to find a way to keep him. These are the types of players that keep your championship nucleus intact.
He deserves the big pay day in 2025, but I do selfishly hope we can keep him longterm. Similar to Greenlaw, you need guys like Jennings on the team.
protect this man.

everything Bourne was supposed to be.
Very strong and deceptively fast.

He also blocks very well.
I know we all love Jauan, I love him, but he's a goner IMO in 2025, he'll get $10M+ a year, we need to keep BA more than Jauan, plus in 2025 we have to extend Brock, plus look into extending Deebo, CMC, & Kittle, all 3 need to be retained, and is doable.

I hope Jauan should stay for the 49ers over 1 year or 2 years? 🙂

I think it was last year that Shanahan said Jennings is one of the best guys on the team at getting separation on his routes. He's not going to be a deep threat who stretches the field, but he would probably thrive in that five-to-fifteen yard area past the line, which is what a good possession receiver does. Third and Jauan.

Nice to see him get rewarded with a touchdown. He does a lot of the grunt work and is kind of an unsung hero in this offense.

Great hands as well.

I agree, it's one reason I consider him to be this team's Ed McCaffrey. When we had that 94 team we were THAT loaded, then McCaffrey took a bigger payday to go to Denver and was able to really showcase his talent. I think the same will be true for Jennings, and wouldn't be a bit surprised if he signs with a team ran by a coach from Kyle's tree.

Every championship team needs a WR like Jennings.
