Yeah let's kick out a HOF LT who's still playing at an elite level because you're butthurt he wants more cash lol. As long as he's playing top end football you keep playing him. This is no different than what The Rams do with Stafford…but we know you wouldn't dare whine about that

If they have traded Trent, he would have said the FO was stupid to trade him.
Trent Williams will be there next season and that's a great news for the Niners, Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy.

I think it's more likely we would take a S in the second. It's hard to use a first round pick on a S cause the fifth year option cost.

I think there's some talent at S in this draft that we can snag in the 2nd. I'd really like us to get a S who can cover well. Especially with us having a guy like mustapha who can assist with the run so well.

Oh I totally get that. I think the 5th yr option cost is a bigger deal for IOL because they are mixed in with OTs.

Dukes is a stud and would love him in the second. I like Clark as well, 58 is little too rich for me though

I would draft him and after him at LG to learn from Trent or RT then move McKivitz.

Trent is good for 2years if we're lucky. Now is the time to draft the next OT.

Colton is likely to get a raise vs moved or whatever. Sticking Lomu at LG is a disaster, he lacks power and his anchor is questionable. he would get piss pounded vs guys like Murphy and Williams.

folks gotta stop with the moving guys inside then moving him out after. That never happens with high end picks…unless they bomb at tackle and you hope they can play inside.

you want to worry about OT two yrs from now? Go take a guy on day 2/3 that you can develop, someone you don't have to count on to play meaningful snaps.

Cool, we still need to draft his eventual replacement this year. Might not need to spend the #27 on that guy and wait until #58 now but it needs to happen.

No it doesn't

We will have the same convo next year if he is issured or performance drop. Glad it's settled but I do not believe this means skip another draft on OL and fingers crossed. I think they should take his non-sexy replacement pick early even in round 1.

Or it's lather rinse repeat 2027 discussions.

As long as Trent's playing well who cares if we have to do this again next year? We're acting like this was some issue lol. The reworked deal gets done before the draft.

so draft an OT to not play this yr? With this current roster who's trying to win now and needs good young talent on the field?

This draft stinks at OT.

man the Rams should draft Ty Simpson because they're gonna have to go through this all over again in a yr

He will be 39 next year. You can't count on it working out and need to have a plan in place. Having the future lean from him also buys us the opportunity to finally say no when his side asks for more money which could very well repeat again next offseason. Our swing tackles are also pretty average and Trent is almost guaranteed to miss games at some point.

His side wasnt asking for more money this time though. 9ers were trying to lower his cap hit without guarantees.

I can't guarantee we will all be alive on Sunday either…

I don't care if Jed has to pay him more real money as long as he's still playing great football and the only way that's not happening is if he has a massive injury.

This deal cut his cap hit in half and ya'll are b***hing lol.

I swear as long as it says OL next to the draft pick you're all gonna think it's great…regardless of how s**tty this OT draft class this.

you know what's closer to the bottom of needs right now? A backup swing tackle. Go draft a football player that's actually gonna contribute. Go get a "swing tackle" on day 3 who you can develop like Colton. When the time comes to actually get a LT focus on that. s**t isn't happening for 2 yrs….wasting a 1st rd rookie contract with this 1st rd OT talk lol

This whole he's holding us hostage take is silly man.

I couldn't care less if Jed has to fork over more GTD cash the next two yrs. Cool he gets more real cash, we lower our cap, and he's under contract for the next two seasons.

This is my thinking when it comes to Trent. We need to draft for his eventual replacement with one of our top 2 picks because we're gonna go through the same thing every year until Trent retires.

Good luck getting this info to take here, lol.

Saw that it was 37m in guarantees?

He's barely even getting more cash over the two years than he was due this season (33m). Getting paid at the rate he was the last two seasons (~25m).

Glad the deal is done and both sides are happy.
I was wrong, thought for sure he'd skip camp. 2 year extension TW going to play till the wheels fall off
