Good news we got him, bad news, he probably will play half of the season
The 49ers relented again. Eh, we all knew it was gonna happen……………

Eh… $24.5M year one and $25.5M year two is pretty balanced.

Think we cut like $20M off the cap this yr with this move. Honestly I thought he was gonna get more.

two more yrs or the big cat. OT RD1? Nope

Yeah, i also thought it would be more. It's more team friendly than I expected. It's a fair deal for both parties - only real concern is Trent's age.

id be a little surprised if we took an OT in the first round. Even a guard. I fully expect D line or S. I think we take some guard in the fourth, which is usually what we do.

my guess is that it's DE in the 1st and S in the second.

WR/DL/G/RB will be the fourth, IMO.

He'll continue using his leverage if we keep kicking the can down the road on drafting a tackle.

If a tackle fell I'm still taking him at 27 otherwise I agree. I'd love to see them trade around to add more picks this year or next.

While I wouldn't hate S based on the talent and where we're picking. I think it's highly unlikely based on being able to find good S later and the value of fhat rookie contract. Same with OG

I think it will be DL/WR in some sort of order

I agree that they coukd still take a tackle at #27 if one fell to them that they liked. They could play him at guard next to Trent so he could learn from him. It would also make it easier for him to slide in and replace Trent if he gets injured. At least it gives them more flexibility at 27. They don't need to pick OL. They can go with DL, WR or DB. Depends on who's there when they pick.

As long as he's playing real well, who cares? That's his leverage….He's f**king good still lol.

Drafting a rookie OT to ride the bench for two yrs is dumb. We lose value in that contract and shoving him in at LG based off vibes (rather than if he can actually play) is silly as well…how many players have been drafted in the 1st to be a future OT but played guard for a couple years? In theory that's nice, don't happen very often.
Even though its a 2 year deal I fully expect him to retire after the season

Or hold out next year for a new deal

So you want to draft a OT and convert him to a guard? Like I just posted how many times has a tackle drafted high been pushed into guard for a couple yrs then pushed out to LT? It doesn't happen like that very often….and not all these OTs can play guard to begin with. What if someone like Lomu (who I think can't play guard) plays like ass as a LG, then what? You got a backup OT who can't get on the field for a couple years. Total waste of a first rd pick.
