Josh Simmons was the guy. Not sure if they worried about the injury or if Saleh had more influence on the draft.

I'm not trading Trent unless it's for two firsts. He's the one who should have an astronomical price tag. Not Mac. If Mac requires a 1. Trent requires two of them. Or a truckload equal to that.

I thought the same thing, probably the best prospect since Sewell if not better. Made so much sense to take him with our 2nd, wouldn't have to be rushed back and someone with his potential getting to see and learn from Trent would have be great. Of course the chiefs stole him, he's looked good too when out there

The news of a new "contract proposal" for TW comes from Jason La Canfora of Sports Boom. The news is not sourced. Nobody with the 49ers or TW's camp is on record about this. La Canfora's report relies upon "league sources." That's it. There are no quotes. From anyone. Just "league sources." No idea if this can be believed or not. Did someone leak the news to cover up whispers that the 49ers are going to snatch TW's replacement in the upcoming draft? No idea.
I can only tell you what every 49er fan already knows: TW remains unsigned as of this moment.

The 49ers have reportedly sent over a revised contract to Trent Williams the past few days and there's a chance the situation gets resolved early this week

Heres what hes talking about for reference.

Yeah, he's just quoting La Canfora. Kyle Posey is out with a story today rehashing the same stuff. Again, solely based on the La Canfora report. There's nothing new in the Coach Yac or Posey reports. It's just a rehash of the stuff put out by La Canfora a few days ago. And none of the La Canfora report was based on an identifiable source. It's just "league sources tell me..."
As you are well aware, I have a bit of a problem with terms like "league sources tell me." It's the same as "unidentified sources" or "sources who do not want to be identified." This is why standard sources like the SF Comical or San Jose Mercury News haven't picked up on it. Reporters there are very well aware of what La Canfora has stated as fact. But, if there's no source to identify or back it up, it doesn't get printed in those publications.

He needs to practice. I thought he came in out of shape last year.

He was def rustier than usual, IMO. I dont care about the OTAs etc but would nice if he was there for camp - he usually has a bunch of off days anyways. Which gives the backup Tackle a lot of reps to get better.

So tired of this crap every year. If it's not Williams it's someone else. Play football damn it.

He is old and barely made it through last year. Time to move on. Draft his replacement this year and be prepared to start him halfway through the season when Trent gets injured again. The last few years he has been injured right before playoffs and is too old to recover quickly.

I just expect it from guys like Williams. Their goal is to make every single dollar they possibly can, which is fine. It's their choice. No such thing as a team friendly deal with him. lol he's one of the highest earners of all time. make your money, big dog. lol
I just hope it doesn't leak into camp etc. that's when it's annoying and a distraction, IMO.

I'm still hoping Trent plays for us this year, but even if this gets resolved and he plays for us the whole year I 100% agree with you. We need to start finding his future replacement yesterday. He's 38. We can't keep hoping he's got another year left in him even if it happens to be true. One day he will randomly get injured or start sucking and Kyle will be all shocked Pikachu face that Brock is running for his life every play.
