Put him on weight restrictions like he did with Bubba Paris.

Sounds like we should have Williams locked up by Friday before his next bonus comes due. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾

How does that lock him up?

How does that lock him up?

He's predicting the contract will be settled I guess. Which would in fact "lock him up."

Yes my bad, poor wording there
Taylor Decker is out there and he's cheaper though not as good. They could sign him for 2 years and perhaps get a top 100 pick out of Trent in return. 2 years would allow them to kick the can down the road replacement-wise. They're doing it with Evans/Kirk at WR and Greenlaw. All they need is to come up with one or 2 draft studs each year at any position. Signing Bitonio at LG would do the same.

It's coming to a head within 24 hours.

As for Trent I'm tired of his drama. Call it business if you want.
The Lions (who are miles away from being in a rebuild) cut Decker with no back-up plan despite being five years younger than Williams and $18M cheaper than Williams.

Can we please stop talking about Decker as a sufficient plan B? He's clearly not that good.
Shanahan's linemen don't have to be that good. The line was not that good even with Trent in the lineup. Decker is a legitimate starter. They're going to have to draft his replacement along with the cheaper vets they just signed. Drafting studs involve the element of luck and these vet signings will allow them the comfort of choosing the BPA regardless of position. The vets want to be here when they only experience losing and want to reach the playoffs before calling it a career. Think HOF Ricky Jackson(Saints). Came here, won a Super Bowl in '94 and declared his career complete. This team has the good vibes and there's no need to put up with the Ayiuk's/Trents.

How good was the line when Trent was injured and did not play in games?
Nate Thurmond was the 4rd best center in the NBA after Russell and Wilt + Lew Alcindor. The warriors got nowhere until they traded him. Clifford Ray and George Johnson were more than adequate replacements. Sometimes it's just time to move on.

Let's get it done already.
He gets a 10 mil bonus by Friday, but I think if both parties agree they could extend it for 1 more day to keep negotiations going.
