A lot of Vernon's big plays were off of schemed misdirection plays. His numbers were a product of being force fed because of lack of options. Just like Eric Johnsons 82 catch year.
Vernon too was good. But not worth the #6 pick. Neither was Huff obviously but Vernon didn't even come close to "revolutionizing the TE position".
Though he came closer to "revolutionizing the TE position " than Trey came to being Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. So I'll give him that
If I'm being honest I think it was the over the top analysis of both Trey and Vernon that made me argumentative. I didn't see either one being "that guy" but physical attributes made this forum foam at the mouth over both
They Trey Lance pick was a massive blunder. 49ers were just so desperate to move past JG. I personally didn't care for any of those QBs except Lawrence and Wilson. Wilson also a bust and Lawrence has been only ok. Just a bad year overall but we were the biggest losers given we gave up 3 1st rounders.
I liked Fields and tbh I feel like Kyle would have gotten a lot out of him (more than we have seen) I also feel if Trey didn't get hurt twice Kyle would have made him competent. I don't think either would be nearly as good as Purdy has shown. But it was a massive miss, but we get it. 90% of us knew we had to move on from JG and try something because the rest of the roster was ready.
If Kyle wants SB or bust this year I don't see how they trade Aiyuk, but I also think having Bosa and Purdy, they know they can remain competitive for another 5 years easy.
