Saying that he didn't know the WR market was gonna explode this year is the dumbest thing Lynch has said
Seems like whoever they end up dealing with if they do, they want a TE back, which is what all three of the teams have. I'm willing to bet Hunter Henry was going to be part of the deal if Aiyuk went to the Pats. If a deal goes down with the Browns then maybe Njoku could be part of the deal along with Freiermuth with the Steelers.
Aiyuk has played his position masterfully.

He is essentially vetoing a trade to any team he doesn't want to go to and being annoying enough to the 49ers that they now want to trade him.

He basically can pick where he wants to go and that allows that team (Steelers?) to pay pennies on the dollar for him since they don't really have competition.

The 49ers need to stop playing nice and suspend him without pay for conduct detrimental to the team and send him away. He has no injury designation so he cannot accrue a league year. That will force him to come to his senses and either accept a deal with SF/play on the 5th year option or accept a trade with whomever team the 49ers decide. He can't be allowed to dictate where he wants to go.

If he wants to play hardball the 49ers need to do the same and hold him hostage to his contract.

It's all just postulating.

But a team is not going to trade for him at this point until they are assured he will sign an extension with them. BA is screwing himself by saying no to practically every team. A team can't even trade for him as a rental because he is going to hold out with them, Just like he is with the Niners. But for different reasons.

Yes you're right. That's why Lynch needs to tell him you're either staying with us on the 5th year, signing an extension or we are suspending you indefinitely. If you don't like those options than we can trade you but nobody will trade for you until you sign their extension. And we will decide where you go. If you don't like that than either play on the 5th year, sign our extension or sit out and we will suspend you. No showing up to TC to avoid fines.

49ers need to reestabish leverage quickly.

Steelers better be willing to give up something other than trash then. To get something you have to give something. But Steelers want him for free basically. They are just offering backups. Their backup guard, backup center, and #5 or 6 WR. For a top 10 WR who was borderline top 5 last season and who is only 26. Rediculous.

They don't have to offer anything as it stands. Aiyuk is winning. He has created a situation where Pittsburgh isn't competing with anyone for his services while also being annoying enough to where SF feels the need to move him.

This is what concerns me. This front office is a adept as they are autistically off base.

We all know you either hold Aiyuk or get a ridiculous haul...because the team has rights over him for 2 years if they feel it.

But we've seen them buffoon these situations.

I think there is a difference from being open to moving him to feeling the need to move him.

The 9ers can tell the Steelers we're not giving Aiyuk away and we have no problem forcing him to play for us on his 5th-year option so don't call until you're willing to put together something reasonable.

Then the 9ers can turn back to Aiyuk and basically tell him we had deals in place with multiple teams willing to give you the money you want and you said no and the team you want only wants to offer scraps for you and we're not trading for crap. So don't blame us for not trying to work out something for you now get back on the field and let's focus on 2024 together.

So just give him what he wants? Or tell him NO way we are trading you and call his bluff to see if he sits out? Those are the only options if you believe this.

The failure on the 49ers is in not wrapping this up ASAP BEFORE other receivers began signing. Other than that, I have no issue with them standing firm.

I mean have a damn conversation with him at the very least

they haven't done anything since May. They f**ked up the whole thing. What did they think he would take the first offer or play on his 5th yr option?

His agent is Lynch's best friend for god sake lol. Did they not see the upcoming WRs due for a contract? If they had no intentions of paying him, why the f**k wait until August to move him? Let's wait until the worst time to move a guy and "hopefully" get Bourne and a 2nd?

yeah it's a disaster for a team that's suppose to win it all this yr

I put it on them for having no urgency. It's like they negotiate in a bubble, paying no attention to the rest of the league. With that said, it's a lot of mouths to feed here.

But it's bad on Aiyuk as well. The Steelers? Commanders? Patriots? Honestly those are all awful options, with inferior QBs and he becomes target number 1- the guy defensive coordinator are gameplanning to take away which is something he has never had to worry about. Browns are a better team, but eh. That org will mess up a good thing somehow.

I think it's interesting that in spite of being 2nd team All Pro, the players in the league still view him behind Deebo. They also ultimately gave in to Trent, Deebo, and Bosa with contract demands. Going in a different direction here. Can't wait for this to end so we can get clarity on what Aiyuk feels his value is.

I was being facetious
If he's annoying Kyle then it's over, he probably won't get a new deal to stay here, remains to be seen if he gets traded
