This is looking like a total failure all around. The FO and BA have failed this is why you get ahead of young good talent contracts. Once injury hits Deebo and Kittle there is going to be a major talent drop off that we put on the field without BA
How is this the FO's fault?
They should have traded him when his worth was the highest. When teams had picks to give that could help this yr and when teams had cash to spend on players…plus it would have freed up cash to spend this yr.
They haven't even spoken to BA in months regarding his contract. It sounds like this is the offer and that's it. Overall BA doesn't want to leave, but SF is treated it like they don't give a s**t about him. Take it or leave it. I wouldn't call that negotiations. Would you?
But that is a subjective take that assumes you will always get greater value earlier. The key thing here is need. Need always demands worth, my man. While I agree, the Niners brass may have had more suitors earlier that doesn't mean they won't have suitors now or that they will not get the asking price they demand. Remember, the ball is in their court. For that matter, it is in Aiyuk's court as well. Does he really want the extra scratch or can he get over the fact that he will be paid handsomely, just not as much as a handful of others. Can he live with that? I am unsure. I could. I want to win. But s**t, I don't blame him if he is trying to maximize his value. Back to the niners, if they flub this and do not get a good return, I would agree with your sentiments that they would have been better suited to try earlier.
