Nah, we can afford BA long term, you don't draft him in the 1st and let him leave in FA, he'll be extended next year IMO.

Exactly what they did with Glinch. Also a 1st round pick.

Again, I am just guessing. But Shanny knows how to draft and develop WR's. RB's too.

MM never become a well rounded all around star. He still struggled in pass blocking and got tossed around too.

I understand that. I was responding to AB's take. Yes, there is a reason why the team didn't extend Glinch. But, while he may not have been the best, he wasn't horrible. He had his moments.

Is Aiyuk going to look great this season. I think so. He's off to a great start. Good enough to get big contract $$$? Time, and the dreaded salary cap, will decide that.

His great gsame will open up more opportunities for KS to exploit.
Very happy for Aiyuk. He's going to have a monster yesr and I hope we pay him. I wouldn't mind extending him soon to get it over with. The better he plays, tbe more expensive he will get - and I think he will have a career year.
He absolutely crushed that dude on the CMC TD then still ran down the field looking for more fools to block

Meanwhile, the little kitty is still a free agent

"Throws right, but is a switch hitter" lol
Glad the 49ers have that ~40M available.
We should extend him now before he goes off for 1500 yards

This for sure! If they could get him to sign very soon it would be for the best!
Guess we know why the team is freeing up all that $.

That's funny to hear you say that since one of the criticisms on this forum has been the inability to draft good receivers.
I remember those days. Funny thing is with one of those busts, Jalen Hurd, I think would've been a good one. Fortunately Jauan Jennings came along.

Agreed. But Shanny has drafted and developed his fair share of them.
He has, but there was a time when the narrative was that he couldn't.

OL unfortunately also tend to get overpaid beyond their real value more than other positions IMO.

Team is hoping Colton, Pryor, or Moore can ultimately hold down that RT spot without breaking the bank.

They are, but I think they invest in the position, mor than once nest year. It;s year 3 for Moore and McKivitz. Even if they both improve, we need more tackle help.

I remember when we were extending Deebo and I was thinking 18 million a year, and then Baalke gave Christian Kirk that damn contract, then the Tyreek Hill trade happened, and then all bets were off. I'd try to sign Aiyuk for 20 million per before someone pays somebody something stupid. Imagine if Kittle were a free agent and a team gave any TE not named Kelce or Kittle north of 12 million. Teams overpay in free agency and the teams that draft well suffer.
Extend this man NOW!

Well we are like $40M over the cap next year, so I think we plan on rolling most of it over: we will see
