Shanahan might have over thought this one. Aiyuk getting smashed or tearing an ACL returning a punt would be a nightmare.

Agreed. Stupid risk that the team can't afford. Besides, I'd rather have a guy who fair catches every punt, then have someone try to do stupid ,unnecessary, and ends up muffing or fumbling the ball in our own territory. Then we end up losing the game by 3 or 7 points
