I am so sick and tired of our front office completely neglecting this part of our team. Just draft a return man as an undrafted free agent or a fifth sixth or seventh round pick and finally be done with it. How hard is that? Damn

They drafted the all time college returner lol. But I do agree they need to try again.

I am well aware that they drafted the all-time leader in punt return touchdowns, he broke DeSean Jackson's record. It's also fair to assume that when they drafted Pettis he wasn't going to be a returner because starting receivers rarely are. However, I'm still baffled how that didn't work out for Dante after he lost his starting job. It's easy to waste a very late draft pick on a punt return/kick return specialist. If special-teams is an important phase of the game I don't see how they don't keep trying every year until they find one that's acceptable and does more than just fair catch.

I believe the fair catch thing is more about the coach than the returner. As someone pointed it out, all of our returners do this.

I really hope that's not the case because I don't know many coaches that would ever support this line of thinking. If so we might have to move on from our special teams coach. I find that extremely hard to believe

Pettis was okay. His first year was similar to Kendrick Bourne's best year. He's better at getting open but worse at making catches in traffic

Things like this, and seeing Juice & Kittle with Kyle's son, just makes me believe Juice will re-sign with the 49ers, same way Trent loves Shanahan's system, and loved being a 49er. So what he turned down their initial offer, no big FA has signed a new deal with their 2020 team, just hoping we see some news soon, I'm getting impatient, every time I see those 2 threads with new posts I think something happened.

Anyway, Aiyuk will be a beast, WR1 for sure, Deebo WR2.
How long until Aiyuk figures out that he needs a better qb?

He will get one. Mullens was his qb so Jimmy is a major upgrade

Jimmy not good enough to take advantage of Aiyuk's abilities down the field. Major reason why we need to upgrade from him now. He is going to waste Aiyuk to slants and screens and comebacks and end-arounds which is a travesty. Candidly if we didn't have Aiyuk I'd be less upset with Jimmy starting again this year.

I'd rather have Mac Jones over Jimmy just for this reason alone.

Obv still prefer Watson/Wilson/Fields.

do you guys really think a new QB will make a difference?

KYLE will never allow any player(s) to be BIGGER than him.

it's not terrible, it's just you're a Shanahan follower and I get it.. but the problem is that, you wont even post a debate.

How do you even quantify your statement though? I'd debate you on it but there's really no facts to support your claim.
