Deebo can be the concept side vs zone with kittl,e and Aiyuk can be that man-beating X. That's what we saw last night from the Bills.

Man coverage all around (3rd & 6). Nick first looks to the strongside, no one open. Looks to Aiyuk who wiggles for separation vs TWhite.
One thing I saw from Aiyuk since his first game was his ability to fight off contact and break away from it. That's seen here when he fakes inside and shoves off the CB. It's subtle, but he seems to consistently be able to brush off the contact at the top of the route. He plays bigger than 6'0 205 when running a route. Wish he had caught this cleanly and possibly burst upfield. To the bolded, yes put him on an island, he's showing that he can win vs man on his own without rubs/picks.

Checkout his route 13:19 3rd qtr. zone coverage that plays like man, single safety, he's the only route run. Literally. If he doesn't win, it's a sack. That's big-time trust by Shanny. He runs a deep in/out, embarrasses the corner, gets HUGE separation.

Well.....alright then....
His corner route where he beat the same guy for a 49 yarder was beautiful. Showed his esplosiveness.

That's because he's WORTH more to a 53-squad than Jimmy next year,....by a substantial amount.

There's no problem here by comparison.

If you could see eating Jimmy's contract next year as a possibility,...then you most certainly eat Stafford's.

The original post wasn't accurate. Stafford makes more than Garoppolo...for the Lions. If he gets cut/traded, all the guaranteed money is accelerated and the only thing a new team that acquired him via trade would be paying is roughly about $18-20 million which consists of base salary+roster bonus, so really it'd be a significant savings from Garoppolo's cap hit next year.

The Lions aren't trading Stafford. There'd be no benefit. They save 20 mil but would get hit with 19 mil in dead money. It would only save them 1 mil. I really don't see them cutting him with no compensation. I really doubt Stafford is going anywhere.

Also, it would be 20 mil that his new team would be on the line for, 9.5 base, 10 mil roster bonus, 500k workout bonus. Jimmy is 26.6 would have 2.8 in dead money so it would save 24.1. You only gain 4.1 mil in cap space - not a significant savings.

BUT...... "He's more than a deep threat"

An offense in 2021 with Mostert, Wilson, Hasty at RB, Juice at FB, Deebo, Aiyuk, and Hurd at WR, and Kittle, Reed, Dwelley, & Woerner at TE will do wonders, just need to have a QB, whether it's Jimmy back to his 2019 self, or another vet. Teams needs to badly retain Trent Williams too.

I always felt like Ruggs was just a track guy.

Nah he was used on multiple levels at Bama, he ran just as many different route combos as Jeudy last yr.

There's a good stat showing how he used (routes ran) in his draft thread.

Thought Aiyuk was good, but he's proven me wrong he's really good...I have no problem admitting that
The 49ers got the good ASU WR.

Belichick really needs to hire someone just to draft WRs for him.

insult to injury

In the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots traded back from 64th overall, netting the 77th and the 118th overall picks, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The Seattle Seahawks selected Ole Miss receiver D.K. Metcalf.
Aiyuk makes dbs look silly and that catch where he spun his whole body around and still was able to track the ball was elite.

I think people were scared about Aiyuk cause of how bad N'Keal Harry has looked.

Also bad trade by BB, usually he's on the mark with these, but that has to sting.

And thank god we got the better ASU WR.
