Agreed. I recall in the wake of BA's injury the thought being he would be out all of the '25 season.

That is where my expectations are at until proven otherwise. I hope he can come back and be productive at any point.
Get the feeling they are going to put him on season ending IR soon.

The 49ers really need Watkins to get on the field and show that he can perform like he did in camp. Then you can reevaluate the WR room in the offseason with Pearsall and possibly Watkins as the foundational players moving forward.

Agreed not surprising, I think mid season or a little after was always more feasible. But completely disagree that he won't help them this season
agree on Watkins
Season ending IR would not be the end of the world. Even more reason though why I said that all holdouts would only end in a deal by the start of the training camp. If not then negotiations stop and you play out your deal.

Time and time again it's shown that these extensive holdouts end up with the signee getting injured once the season starts due to not having come into the season in football shape. Today's game players are to big too fast too strong for one to step on the field not in football shape against those that are. It doesn't end well typically

I don't want Aiyuk forced back to action early. He just has to work with desperation to get back and keep the faith but we don't need to be stupid as if we don't have other options

yeah he still looks tentative to cut on that knee. I do feel for him. and for the team. He was such a beast before the injury
With the Bosa injury and the focus of the season shifting to player development and not necessarily about trying to win games, it doesn't make sense to bring Aiyuk back at all unless he's definitely 100%.

It does if we're fighting for the playoffs. Fans take our recent run of making the playoffs for granted. If you can make it, all hands on deck. Kittle CMC Trent Warner not getting younger.
He is out for the year. And if he came back a bit earlier it would take him many many games to get into the groove, football shape, whatever.

Like Bosa, BA off my radar this year. Early for BA I guess great but it is going to take him so dang long to get back up to speed when ready he is almost moot this year.

As long as we get a healthy and productive Kittle back, we should be ok without Aiyuk.
I am guessing week 12 at home or 13 at Cleveland then the bye week. That is still 8 to 9 more weeks of recovery.

This was always a 2 year injury. He had a very severe knee injury. People thinking otherwise were being unrealistic.
I'm guessing week 10 or so of that date comes to pass it's over for the season .
with Slick Rick coming around, and a rookie who's looked like a steal, I think we can trade YUCK to a team that needs a WR ... send him to KC..

Who is this rookie you're talking about?
