No one says he doesn't put in the work
He didnt last offseason.
Thats what happens when you're holding out and the team is sitting on their ass. Pretty standard across the league, especially when it's a massive amount of cash being discussed.
It was Ayuik too,

the patriots offered him a bigger contract,
Yes. The 49ers accepted trade packages from the Browns and the Patriots. Both were contingent on Aiyuk signing an extension with those teams. While we don't know what the guarantees were, we do know that the contracts offered by the Patriots were 90M/3 (30M AAV) and 129.6M/4 (32.4M AAV). Aiyuk declined those offers because he already had the Steelers offer agreed to.

we were close with the Steelers and Washington wasn't offering enough.
The front office agreed to the compensation package of a 2nd and 3rd round pick for Aiyuk. They held off on submitting the trade for a month because they were trying to flip the 3rd round pick for an X wide receiver to replace Aiyuk and also hoping the Steelers would bid against themselves with the other offers getting leaked. They couldn't flip the third with the Raiders (Adams) and Broncos (Sutton) declining.
With the Commies, Lynch wanted McLaurin or a first-round pick plus more in the summer trade talks. The Commies offered Dotson + picks. Neither side like the others offer, so talks ended pretty quickly.

Out of respect? Brother, the offseason started with Paraag low-balling Aiyuk then telling Lynch to trade him.

He ended up signing the deal we laid out for him months before. It's a huge life decision but he's the one that should be accountable for missing training camp
No.
Before the draft, the 49ers offers were around 20M AAV when Aiyuk was asking for 26M. Five teams were interested in acquiring Aiyuk. A few made offers that included a first-round pick. Lynch got greedy and demanded a first-round pick and a quality starter in return (e.g. they asked the Jags for #17 and Zay Jones). All five teams passed.
On April 24th, 2024, two days before the draft, the Lions and Amon-Ra St. Brown agreed to a 120M/4 extension (30M AAV). The next day, the Eagles and AJ Brown agreed to a 96M/3 extension (32M AAV). Paraag and Aiyuk met in mid-May. Paraag finally came up to Aiyuk's 26M asking price from months earlier. It was too late. Aiyuk declined. Paraag proceeded to stop communicating with him from mid-May to mid-July. Houshmandzadeh, Aiyuk's offseason coach, would go on FS1 and talk about conversations he had with Aiyuk. On several occasions, Housh made it clear what Aiyuk was looking for (ARSB's 120/4). The 49ers continued to try and find someone to trade with, even calling up the Vikings about Justin Jefferson shortly before he was extended.
In early-July, Aiyuk went to have a meeting with Lynch and Shanahan. This is when he made a formal request to trade him if they weren't going to pay him his asking price. The team granted that request and allowed him to talk with other teams while they also talked with other teams. The 49ers worked out deals with the Browns (Cooper) and Patriots (Bourne + mid-round picks). Aiyuk declined to extend with those teams. Aiyuk brought the Steelers back to the table and agreed to the same extension offer he received before the draft when the 49ers attempted to trade him previously.
On August 12th, the 49ers increased their offer to Aiyuk to 29M AAV. The topline was a million apart, but the guarantees were even further. Ultimately, Aiyuk got what he wanted and Paraag, who had no intention of paying him anywhere close to what he got, caved to pressure from Lynch and Shanahan.
