No we won't.

We have 3 good receivers on the roster and Kittle plus a healthy CMC.

Id trade him and that contract for a pick tomorrow

3 good receivers?

Ricky, JJ, Robinson.

They are good, but neither are elite, like BA was and can be if comes back healthy.

I'm worried about BA untagging all 49er stuff on his SM.

It looks like the 49ers probably told him they are actively shopping him.

Robinson won't even start the season (at least that's what I been told), which is why I think they need to bring in another veteran.

We don't know if he'll be suspended. I would hope the team had some info that we do not when making that move but either way even if he missed some games to start we should be able to get by with JJ, Pearsall, Cowing, Kittle and CMC.

Healthy George and CMC make the offense work with almost anyone at WR.
i guess goodbye aiyuk. so now what? draft another receiver?

Can't shake the vibe that the Aiyuk situation has some shades of Jordan Poole, without the punching. Even considering his cap hit, something is off about the team not wanting to stay committed to him, after all the loyalty they've shown to other players recovering from injury in the past. The staff seems to have lost confidence in him for reasons that aren't necessarily visible to the public.

I'll be smiling no need to riot for undoing a mistake

it all goes back to his holdout and his comments about sitting on the offer for weeks.

im taking a wild guess but i believe the NIners were forced to keep Ronnie Bell and cut Jarret Kingston (in an attempt to sneak him on the PS) because of the Aiyuk holdout.

Does everyone just forget how f**king good BA is? Get over the contract thing and keep damn good football players that are in their prime

I don't understand the point in moving him. The value is about as low as it gets right now. They need playmakers even if he's still here.

Sorry to tell you but unless he has a miraculous Adrain Peterson return next season his value isn't going up, he probably won't be ready till later in the season so he's not having a big year and if we are not in the playoff race we might just shelve him even longer

What good would shelving him do if he's healthy? He needs to play, develop confidence in that knee, his running, cutting, etc once he's healed. Furthermore he's under contract for four years. So its about 2025, 2026, 2027, etc.

A low moment in his worst season as a pro. There's just no forgiveness in these parts. Can we at least see how Aiyuk responds to his 2024 season?

I blame losing some of our players this season on Aiyuks contract. He also set the bar this high when he called himself a lambo.
You can't really replace his potential production without a first or second round pick.

It's 50/50 he comes back great 1100+ yards or his careers just over because he can't run anymore.

The hit rate on starting receivers is less than 50% out of the first round so to get equal value youd need a high pick. This is assuming upside for getting a rookie contract vs 30 million/year receiver contract.

Nobody is going to give that up for him.
This whole thing was just a complete disaster from the start. There's definitely bad blood and buyer's remorse.

Aiyuk handled the contract negotiations horribly (he admitted as much during the season).

The 49ers waited to extend and caved to his demands; that's their fault in this thing--which mainly is on Shanahan because he apparently raced up to call off the trade.

Then pure misfortune of it all strikes when Aiyuk blows up his knee. I think a lot of people are largely overlooking the significance of the injury and just chalking it up to a garden variety ACL and considering the length of time he's out, not the type of player he'll be once he returns.

Aiyuk tore his ACL, AND his MCL, AND he damaged his meniscus; believe there was talk about some other damage as well.

Call me pessimistic but I think this guy's career is over. At least the guy we knew. WR--more than any other position--requires you to make stops and cuts on a dime, and accelerate out of them. I can't think of a worse injury for a receiver to have; especially a guy whose whole skillset is predicated on that.

Once I knew the extent of the injury, I kinda accepted it as the coffin for Aiyuk's career.

Hindsight is 20/20. Niners made a poor investment to a player who has a pretty s**tty attitude and suffered a career-altering (possibly career-ending for all intents and purposes) injury.

No use in applying sunken cost fallacy. The team needs guys who can contribute to that WR room and he cannot do that--not next year, and probabaly not ever again.

Time to cut bait

I hate that you're right on literally every single point. The most frustrating thing is how good those guys could have been as a WR combo, and we never really got to see that.

And yet, we have the Patriots, who have actual doctors on the team, willing to trade for him. Do you think they would trade for a player when his career is over ?
I don't see anyone trading for him until his progress report is shown.

…did a trade happen? Did I miss something? Some Patriots insider predicting the Patriots will trade for a WR is not news nor does it tell us anything.
