Yuk has the potential to be a 1300-1400 yard receiver. His cap hit was already factored in last year with the purdy deal in mind. They can afford it.
There are no other receivers on the team that have proven they can run good routes consistently for purdy.
Yes he's a tier below Jefferson, Chase, lamb etc... but without any other option you kind of need to get good return or keep him. There's no guarantees even a wr taken in round 1 will get 1k yards in a season. Its probably about as likely as yuk not coming back well from his acl.
You need equal compensation and risk or better to make a trade work.
Everybody gets paid on potential and extrapolation of what you've shown. IE they are going to hope he's going to be as good or better than pre acl.
50/50 he comes back and gets 1300 receiving yards. 50% chance he has lost all speed and is relegated to a wr3-4 production for the rest of his short career
