we did finalize a trade with Cleveland and we were getting a second round pick as well as Cooper but he declined the trade. He did not want to go there.
so as much as people want to blame the Niners front office we did have a trade-in place, also we did have another trade with the Steelers ready to go
I only blame the front office for dragging their feet when we probably could've signed him for 28 million per year (but then again we don't know if he would've accepted that earlier on, I think he alluded to it that he would've), so we cost cost our self 3 million per year by waiting.
when we act early like the Greenlaw extension, Jennings extension or Lenoir extension, it's usually awesome results cap wise and on the field production

I wish we could go back in time and do that trade with Cleveland. I remember at the time thinking "I don't want to lose Aiyuk but that's not THAT bad of a trade given how good Cooper still is…"
The other apparent trades (especially with Pittsburgh) stunk to high heavens, though.

Ya.....and BA would not accept it. What a clown. The 9ers need to play hard ball with these idiots.

WR will be a trouble spot if not addressed in this offseason. I just don't think BA comes back on time and if so I don't think he will be in game shape. I mean he held in last offseason then only got to play a little time before getting hurt and in that time the timing was off. Think what it will be now.

I say we get a free agent like Brandon Cooks or somebody that can stretch the field. He will come cheap as well.

And the guy consistently gets thousand yard seasons with crap at quarterback (not recently). We just need a player like that.

B.A and Deebo were really got to get financial security from our F/O. They both won as it will be hard to just walk away from either due to the salary cap ramifications.
These guys played their hand perfectly.

I was just thinking this Deebo has no excuse other than I'm not getting the ball. Bro Ayuik went down and you were the next man up, Instead a 7th round pick in Jauan Jennings takes the lead. Deebo looks out of shape and the past season he's dancing avoiding hits rather than plunging forward.
Ayuik we still need to see if he bounces back but the few games he did play he was dropping crucial passes that hit him right in the hands.
Both of these contracts have been absolute disasters in hindsight.

Aiyuk was off his game for sure but the contract holdout clearly factored in that. However his impact on the overall offense was still clear.
You can see the dive bomb in our offense after BA got hurt. The Rams game without Deebo and Kittle with Aiyuk vs the Rams game without Aiyuk later(of course rain did play a clear factor so not apples to apples) but we struggled way more there without that Aiyuk threat.
We better all hope he recovers asap and gets back to form cuz he's still going to be our best WR.

Well said, Ayuik is or was a great receiver. Our offense did take a hit with his absence but we also lost McCaffery as well of the rest of our rbs. Add Trent Williams and Deebo of course the offense fell apart, Ayuik is a weapon for sure but the offense didn't fall apart solely on him

Does that mean the front office doesn't know WTF they're doing? Serous question. Because it looks that way. These guys have gone from great contributors to pains in the asses. Seems like there should be an out without killing the cap...maybe I'm delusional.
