This is the same contract the Niners offered him on Aug. 10, what a waste of 3 weeks

Well that Ladybug catch in the NFC Championship game definitely had at least sentimental value.

So he got his $30 million a year. Well Lynch just f*cked this franchise for good. Now every half-decent talented player on the roster is going to pull this s**t, because they know it will work now. Good job, John!! Gonna start calling him John FLINCH. He's probably going back to broadcasting next year, and doesn't care about the shape he leaves the team in.

.

He signed the deal that they offered on August 10th. "Pulling this s**t" didn't get him anything.

Which is considerably more than he was originally offered. Before the antics. Before the "trade request". Before the drama. So yes, it most certainly DID "get him something".

He was given market price. He's not a top 5 receiver. Probably top 10. The August 10th offer was adjusted to the WR market. The salary is in line with the market. The St. Brown and Jefferson contracts didn't alter the offer. "The s**t" I'm referring to is taking the holdout deep into camp and missing all of pre season. Anything prior to that is typical negotiating tactic done by all high end players which the team responded to with a fair offer.

So if he, in your words is a top 10 WR but not top 5...but he is paid top 5 money...how is that "market price"? That is literally the definition of being overpaid.

Agree. Typical Niners.
I don't like it one bit. Wanted him gone.
It's going to cost the Niners other really good players, I'd rather have on the roster.
Ah well . . .

Sometimes, finding the market is hard to do.
We have the deepest WR corps in terms of talent since Kyle's been here… and a young developing QB on the rise to take advantage of it.

good things.

There's no incentive for any other party to do it. It's a clear means to shift pressure/attention to Aiyuk.

We can agree to disagree.

I think the team def did everything they could to pressure Aiyuk. Same way a player will take the logo off the account - teams put stuff in the media to sway fans and puts pressure on a player to make a decision.

at the end of the day, and I've said this q bit the last few days - I don't think Aiyuk has the financial ability to sustain fines like Trent could. He had to make a decision quick and I think made the right decision for all parties involved. Hes got wild money now and we got a good player

Agreed.
Ayiuk not so stupid after all. He tried to get the best deal he could. When it became clear this was the best he could get from us, he signed it. He is a good WR and the best one on this team. 30 million a year is a lot of money though, hope he lives up to it and I think he will.

I imagine it was a part of Aiyuk and his agents strategy to hold out as long as possible and squeeze out whatever they could. Id also guess that when fines and losing money became a reality things got moving.
Stealers fans punching air right now
Aiyuk before signing the contract

Not just you. Many people here kind of turned on him.

I didn't want to trade a young player entering their prime without getting a great player in return.

He was an All Pro for a reason.

Season starts in a week and a half, hopefully the sanity returns with it.

Just wait until a DB allows a first down. Lol

He really was at an elite level last year and who knows how the super bowl would've turned out if our game plan was to keep feeding Aiyuk instead of trying to exploit the matchup with Deebo.

Yeah a lot of folks got salty. Dude is good and there's no reason he can get better here
