What did Steve Young do to mayo lol.

He muscled his way to the starting job over Joe. It's personal.

So he was supposed to stay on the bench so Joe could keep playing in his old age?

Walsh himself would've moved on from Montana when they did. Young was the better player at that point.

It was Camelot and Young stuck his nose all in it. Joe still had a couple of good years left - Young could have waited his turn, but forced the teams hand.

Wow..I've seen it all when it comes to this fanbase, Steve Young is an all-time great and in a lot of ways, has represented the 49ers a lot better than Montana in his post-49ers days. It's fine if you like Montana more, He did amazing things for the franchise that will more than likely never be replicated, but to say you hate someone who made the most of his opportunity after Montana got hurt vs NY, gave us tons of success no matter how many times he got knocked down with injuries ? Do you also hate Bill Walsh for signing Young when he thought Montana was finished after the 1986 season? were you angry when Young destroyed the Chargers in Miami in 95? Lol just wow. No offense, but that's a fan-card revoked type of action

Also it's been nearly 30 years.

Sorry, man - it's the way I feel.

Ridiculous line of thought. Young was the NFL MVP in 1992. Keeping him on the bench because of Montana nostalgia would've been irresponsible. Also, Young was 31, and had been the backup for 5 years. How long did you want him to wait? In 1992-93-94, all years Montana was still playing, Young won the MVP twice, was first team All-Pro all 3 years, and won SB MVP. You wanted to keep him benched for Montana in his last years?

He could have done all the s**t with someone else. It is what it is - Joe will always be the hero and Young the villain.

Yes Steve was Hall of Fame. The real f**k up the Front Office did was trade Haley to the freaking Cowboys of all teams. If we had Haleyz we probably are saying Young was just as good as Joe.

Yeah, Siefert was moron for trading him to Dallas. Ended up costing us probably two Super Bowls.

Haley was cancerous in the locker room.

Yeah, but why trade to Dallas of all teams. Why not the the browns? They should have got him the help and been patient. That s**t cost us 92 and 93. If Dallas doesn't have Haley they would not have been as good period. Still contenders, but not as good. That's like trading Bosa to the Packers or Seattle.

Yeah, trade him out of conference or something. But, no it had to be Dallas, who we faced in the NFCCG it seemed like every year.
