Offense is about coaching. Defense is about talent playing within a scheme. The talent on Niners D is lacking right now.
Defense involves game planning and making adjustments on the fly. It's why guys like Belichick always have great defenses even with street talent. Saleh just doesn't make or has rarely ever made those kind of adjustments on the fly. I'm not sure he capable of it.
