If people think Niners should've ran it into a wall on that 4th&1, I don't think it should be Mostert or Coleman. It should be Wilson Jr.

Or Jimmy running the read option. He's done it before this year, got about 2 yards or so, but it was effective.

If they wanted to run it they could have put two wrs out wide making the defense have to respect the pass. Then run off tackle to the opposite side preferably with McGlinchey and Kittle and a lead with juice it doesn't always have to be a wall you can spread a defense out and if they don't respect the wrs you check out and throw a quick screen to one of them

I was fine with them calling a pass play. Just not out of shotgun.
as always, if the niners can pressure brees consistently, they should win this game easily

Yep that was a odd formation not a lot of deception.

Thats what im thinking. A quick handoff to juice.
Jimmy has a real coming out party on Sunday. I think he gets that ball out as fast as we ever seen. New Orleans will send the kitchen sink at him & he will carve it up. Just what I think , he's feeling healthy and may even scramble a bit
I feel much better about this game than last. I think we match up much better against NO. There have only been 2 games all season that I didn't think we'd win: @ Rams and @ Ravens. I think NO will score but that our defense is better and our offenses will be about equal.
I know every team and every game is a little different but it always comes down to the basics. This team isn't built on gadget plays. The offense is built to control the ball with a solid running game and short precise passing. That's our plan no matter who we play. Defensively we also have a very basic game plan without a lot of blitzing. We rely on controlling the line of scrimmage with our front 4 and only rarely bring an extra pass rusher. I don't expect the game plan to be any different this week. With a more stationary passer like Brees we should be able to get more pressure on him and hopefully force him into a lot of 3rd and long situations.
Don't throw that pick Jimmy. Don't do it.

Never saw the '17 opener vs the panthers when they stopped juice on 4th and 1, eh?
Youtube'd the Saints this year and did some recon...

One thing I noticed about them is that the offense is no longer built for Brees to carry the load. You can plug in any competent QB like Teddy Bridgewater and win games. Sean Payton is an elite play designer whom I believe is a level above Kyle Shanahan (no offense!).

The general scheme of the Saints is similar to the 49ers and Ravens in the sense that they use a lot of mis-direction plays that keeps the defense on their toes during pre-snap. 11 on 11 football where the defense has to be very disciplined and fundamentally sound.

Furthermore, the key to their offense isn't even Alvin Kamara, but rather Taysom Hill. If you haven't paid any attention to the Saints, Taysom Hill is an elite swiss army knife. This guy is absolutely the main boss of this fight as he's often the primary for critical 3rd down/redzone situations. At the moment, he's an unsloved problem like Lamar Jackson. However I do think we have to speed on defense to contain him!

To the people here prediciting a "bounce back blowout" game for the Niners, be very careful because the Saints are a legit team. My gut tells me this will be another edge of your seat nail biter.

Saints 27
