Losing a last second game in OT doesn't equal getting embarrassed

Oh yes it does alright especially when we didn't have to lose the game.

Listen, we lost to a 29th ranked passing D.

And as the 2nd ranked rush O, we couldn't run the ball.

Our O-line was getting destroyed all night until Jimmy G started seeing ghosts.

In the end, it was the offensive genius head coach who lost his composure which sealed the fate of the team to lose a game against its rival on home turf.

Not embarrassed you say? You should talk to some of the 9ers fans who were at Levi's. The overwhelming report was it was absolutely brutal from the Seahawks fans. It was yet another massive loss of face, not unlike when the team was under Harbaugh really.

And I dare not watch TV for a while. It is a combination of pure embarrassment, frustration, disappointment, pain and anger.

I don't find it embarrassing. The only thing that really annoys me is it was the Seatoots that beat us.

We were going fine until Sanders got hurt. We didn't have Kittle which hurt us.

The worst thing for me is that the WR after Sanders went out were not running their routes properly and getting free and dropping catches that guys like Sanders would have been catching. They were embarrassing.

Kyle should also have called it better. Much of the loss was on Kyle for not adjusting to the Toots stacking the box and smothering our run game. Kyle should have had some better alternatives to beat them with a stacked box. I was very disappointed in that.

But embarrassing no. We just lost our first game after a magnificent run. It is part of NFL. A good reality check to motivate the players and coaches to never give up. The only ones who should be embarrassed is Goodwin, Bourne and Pettis. They should all be cut.

I totally agree with what you are saying about the WRs as well as the poor game management on the part of Shanahan.

But, I cannot hide the fact for the Seahawks is different, at least for me. It is the history, the hatred and disdain that many 9ers fans have for the Seahawks from the head down, Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, the fans, etc, etc. That is just me being honest. As such, it was a massive embarrassment at least in that very context.

And to be fair to Harbaugh, at least the Seahawks team he faced was a Super Bowl contender and ultimately winner. Whereas this current Seahawks team is far from it, there is no Legion of Boom, but we still lost. The most frustrating and painful part of it all is we didn't have to. But, it was our very own head coach who handed the win on a silver platter over to the Seahawks.

We need physical WRs period. Don't know why we think we can get away with a lack of physicality in this division. Kittle is physical and that's why he rules

Deebo doesn't worry me as much long term as Pettis, and I have been a Pettis guy since he was at Washington. Deebo's drops remind me a lot of Kittle his rookie year. Just trying to do too much, and lose concentration. Hopefully he cleans those up like Kittle did.

Pettis, on the other hand, took that shot on the sideline that jarred the ball loose on his drop, and from there he was non-existent. On the last throw, it looked to me like he alligator-armed it. He just isn't doing anything to shake that rep of being soft.

Deebo worries me too, may be "worry" is not the right word, but let's just say as a 2nd round pick, I am not seeing anything special.

As for Pettis? I have long been saying he was the wrong pick and should have moved up to grab Courtland Sutton.

And people talk about KB, but quite frankly he has never been a big "dropper" until this game. Plus, let's be fair, the guy isn't a 2nd round pick neither.

All in all, I can see a complete makeover of the WR room in the offseason and it needs to be one.

I definitely think they'll make some changes there. I really don't think Goodwin would have been on the roster this year if Taylor and Hurd aren't hurt to start the year.

Deebo has shown enough promise that he can be a good solid starter, but he hasn't shown he can be dominant. He is tough as nails though, and he is good with the YAC, so he will be here a while. I could see him as the eventual #2.

My guess is you have Deebo, Hurd, Richie James, and maybe Bourne. Everyone else is a big question mark for next year.

I also put a big question mark on Goodwin before the season, but while I totally agree with your assessment of Jalen Hurd who I love, I had initially expected Jordan Matthews to take that spot instead of Trent Taylor.

I think if Deebo can fix his hands, may be he can be a No.2, but I don't care about that at the moment. To me, there needs to be an infusion of physical and dominating WRs into the corps.

Problem is I am not sure we have the draft picks to get it done. Plus, we are now victims of our own success in the sense that we have already opened our Super Bowl window. And as you know, it never lasts. We won't have the luxury of time of bringing up drafted players slowly. I think we will have to sign some legit free agents.

Going through your list, I think Deebo and Hurd are probably locks. While I like both Bourne and James, I am not even sure they will make the team, that will depend on a lot of factors. Will we extend Sanders for example? Will we be bringing in any more legit free agents? I think it is highly likely. Plus whoever we are going to draft and find amongst the UDFAs.

Sanders, Taylor, Hurd when healthy plus Deebo will give us some depth when all are ship shape. Bourne, Goodwin and Pettis, well their time is up. We need to sign Sanders up for two years and either buy or draft another weapon. James needs to be deployed for some snaps at WR so we can see what he is really made of.

Sweeping it under the rug still means it's in the house. Take care of your mental health, Faithful. Get your house in order first.

Not sure I agree with this completely. A lot will depend on whether or not Sanders returns. If he does and Taylor and Hurd come back healthy next year I think you would have a pretty good core with Kittle and Samuel. Clearly Hurd and Samuel still need to prove themselves but I like Samuel's toughness and Hurd showed he had some dog in him as well during pre-season. Samuel just has to be more consistent catching the ball. I like Bourne but he is another guy that needs to show more consistent hands. I am indifferent to Pettis and James, and I am no longer convinced that Goodwin's head is really in the game anymore. I guess we will see how things go for the remainder of the season. Maybe one of the young guys will step it up.

Alright may be not literally "complete" per se.

But, pending on Sanders' situation, Deebo and Jalen Hurd are probably the only locks at this point. I would like to see an injection of legit dominant WRs. In short, we basically need a major upgrade which is what I have been trying to say.

Haha. I'm like a hoarder. I'm just not ready.
Let's face it guys, this 49ers team was not ready for a playoff level fist fight. SEA has been there, we have not. The good thing is that we got this experience now and not later when it really matters.

I'm watching the all22 of Breida's runs. Some poor effort out there run blocking. Either that or SEA defenders were jacked up for the challenge.
