the tipped passes for INT's were killer. could not overcome them. Defensively it wasn't perfect, but they stepped up and kept us in this game. But when your offense can't move the ball, it's only a matter of time when the defense gets worn down.
Plus Wilson is Wilson.
At the end of it all. the game could have gone either way. But we relied on a rookie Kicker to win it for us. just didn't go our way.
It was the one loss i didn't want, but hey, can't win them all. Still 8-1.
Knowing the bold is why you don't leave time on the clock.

The difference in this game was they had a mobile QB. His ability to run and simply the threat that he may run slowed down the Dline.
The Seahawks Dline had to overachieve to win this game, and they did. They also need the 9ers to struggle, which they did.

- Intercepted another (t-most)
- Forced Wilson's lowest PFF grade of the season
The loss stings for #49ers fans but this defense is for real. https://t.co/B4Pb8cm4ht pic.twitter.com/JDO8SxRDRc
This is certainly true.
No moral victories. We shouldn't have lost this game, period!!
Kyle Shanahan has to answer to this loss!!
And there's A LOT of legit answers he could give.
49ers played and loss a close, very close game and you act like they got blown out.
Who said they got blown out?! In fact, I might not be this livid if we had got blown out instead.
We had the fxxking ball for cry out loud. And Shanahan pissed it away forcing Jimmy G to make 3 consecutive throws and gifted wrapped the ball back to our BFF Russell Wilson with ample time left to win the game.
We should not have lost this game, period!!
As bad as the O-line and WRs were, we still could have won this game or at the very worst tied it.

That Greenlaw pick in OT felt like the tide finally changing in this rivalry. That should've set up an easy game winner. Somehow we sputtered and couldn't get close than 47, and then let a rookie nobody try to make a pressure kick.
So frustrated and annoyed. We had a hand tied behind our back, and still should've won.
I was surprised when we set up only at the 50 after that INT. I felt like he was running forever.
Then the Mostert spot.
But we did get away with a lot of PI and Wilson abuse calls.
Greenlaw could've ran a lot further if he cut upfield. I hate when guys return an INT and wedge themselves to the sideline. He had plenty of blocking, and a couple WR in pursuit. Cut back and try to score!

Nah just a hunch, I bet you'd complain MORE if they got blown out!! But I said you ACT LIKE they got blown out.
I mean is that all you saw last night, nevermind the dropped passes and missed game winning field goal right.
And not to use this as an excuse, but notice how much the offense struggled AFTER INJURIES??

we lost. wilson was the better qb at crunch time. we could not run vs their defense and of course we our run defense was not great esp vs wilson, we made mistakes that the better team does not make. last night. we were not the better team, still a good team but not the better team last night. moral wins are for losers and suckers

I heard it also but that's probably some wierd audio/broadcast issue. You really think sherm standing there would let that slide? He would have raised hell if that was the case.

I've come away with one thought...
If you can't trust your FQB and your FOC to get 1/2 a yard for a 1st down that will run out the game on 4th and 1 in a championship-type game, you have to legit ask yourself (1) are these the right players for your team or (2) maybe you confer with your coaches before you make the next decision.
Hear me out. I do think Jimmy and Weston are the right players, I'm just not so sure Kyle made the right call. I so need him to learn from this. The immediate nod to a rook kicker seemed emotional to me and not calculated, which is a departure for Kyle.
yeah I think you QB sneak that all day, if Gould was the kicker than I kick it.

Easy call in hindsight, right? Your kicker was 3/3 on the night including a similar kick to send it to OT. You kick there.
I do not. We HAD to kick the previous 3. But this was within our control. You basically fall forward and the refs will give you the first down. It eats the clock too after you get it and you get in position to make an easier FG. You run to the left hashmark where the PK was making them too.
Not only do you run for the measly 1 foot for 1st down, you ALSO run off clock. And in the end, that short TOP from when we got the ball until the attempted FG was just a matter of 20 seconds or so. We really needed to run down the clock in addition to getting the first 12 inch first down. No way should we have kicked without Gould. Kicker was at 47 yds and put some extra oomph in it and just like in golf, when you put extra oomph in it, you hit a pull hook every time. Well, that is what he kicked... a pull hook trying for the extra yardage.
In the final analysis, with:
—-Staley and McG obviously not being ready after just one week of practice, we could easily have put Skule and Brunskill in after the 2nd series and it was obvious both our starting OTs were not ready to take on SEA's massive overpowering DL.
—-not only Kittle out but Sanders going out, it was painfully obvious our WRs, who we have drafted early and often...are inadequate to win a playoff game. It was just stunning to see 9 (NINE) DROPS. Bourne made a TD Catch, but also muffed one pass after another. Au jus dropped one. Deebo had one or more drops, Goodwin dropped two in succession and was totally useless. Dwelley got very few targets but had one catch IIRC. The WRs are just unbelievable bad in tough games. Incredibly disappointing. Pettis? Fuggedaboudit. And of course Jet never even saw the field in 2 yrs. Brieda dropped one. It was just historically bad . Our WRs are very ordinary. They are inadequate. Aside from Sanders we need to clean house. Maybe keep one.
—-game plan, was just a total surprise. No or little Zone blocking. We tried to block man or power on a DL that just overmatched us man for man and beat up our OL...and we were outweighed by 20-30 lbs per man. Adding insult to injury, Richburg goes out and his replacement just got run over, play after play. Additionally, 3/4 way thru the game, kyle suddenly realizes we just cant throw passes that take more than 2 seconds. Yet for 3/4 of the game he called passing, plays requiring 3, 4, or 5 seconds to go off. And that was more than enough time for the SEA DL to crush JimmyG. Kyle knows better.
Error on HC.
—-Kittle out (no surprise) , KWON out which really hurt, but GOULD out? WTF? How does your PK go out with SEA in town? Was he over-practicing? Was he trying some from 65 yards out? How in the world did THAT happen. With Gould we win that game. Kyle letting the newlby kicker going for the W from 47? Just an opinion, but he didn't give much thot to that when he had only 12 inches to go for a 1st down on 4th down. Did he forget his SB appearance at ATL? At least there he wasn't in charge. Here...he was.
—-7 guys out including our best receiver (TE) in kittle, PK in Gould, and then 5 others....it seemed like a redux of last 5 yrs. Added to that,we had at least 7 guys out during the game including our only reliable WR in Sanders. Adding the 5,6 or 7 guys we lost this game does that mean our IR and PUP list now has grown to 14? I guess we made it thru half the season with only KWON and Kittle gone, plus Gould and 4 others. But to add to that, 7 more? Please don't tell me the injury thing is happening again.
When you play as a team, the coach and team win...or lose...together. This one though? Lay it on injuries AND HC. Hey, i love kyle and hope he is here forever. But he isn't perfect and as opposed to his usual calm. demeanor, he sure didn't look that way last nite. One could say it is because he was deifinitely aware of what our injury situation was flat out, SEA had the talent edge on us due simply to our now massive injury list. Just hope they all aren't permanent.
Kyle has already gone over the tape, and will no doubt do so again. Bet he will wish he had made different decisions in a number of situations. See above. Still, there are lessons to be learned in a game you let get away, despite the obstacles. Bet on him learning those and not repeating them.
