They scored 6 points off of five turnovers.

Idk all I've been hearing from 2015-18 was how good teams capitalize off of turnovers and bad teams don't

pretty much.

IDC if we're getting ugly wins. we've ALWAYS been on the losing end of these kinds of games for years. the good teams find a way to win, no matter how it's done. they beat the teams they're supposed to beat. if we make the playoffs, how we beat the steelers on this weekend, on that day, won't matter. what matters is we got the W.

period.

Exactly.

And don't underestimate those Niners.

?

Nevermind.

glad you learned your lesson.

But the team is now constructed to overcome a -3 TO margin and still scratch out a win. Of course they shouldn't make a habit of this. I don't think they were complacent or flat or overlooked the Steelers, it was just a series of some wacky s**t going on. Pittsburgh was a wounded dog coming into this game, extremely dangerous. First 2 weeks they were completely ass raped by the patriots then lost a heartbreaker to the most unlikable team in the league while losing their starting QB and leader for the season. They were screwed by the refs in a close 2-pt loss as well. The perfect recipe for a letdown game and it was certainly heading that way but elite teams or near-elite find a way to win this kind of game.

you said nothing wrong

Have the game on my DVR. Debating if I should rewatch or not lol

What made it more frustrating for me, they moved the ball on the Steelers very well--then laid an egg at the door. Total buzzkill
Another week I don't have to avoid watching NFL Network . Last year, I hardly ever that that channel on.

The hits are on the OLine not working efficiently. Probably stifled our run game as well. The lack of depth here and inexperience is hurting us. I am not blaming it Skule. He is green and did what he could under high pressure. The lack of work and depth is on coaching and management.

Steelers …….49ers
11 First downs 26
239 Total Yards 436
160 Pass Yards 268
79 Rush Yard 168

Our Offense and Defense combined won this game.
The defense shut them down and they could not limit our offense despite forced errors and unforces errors by our offense.

Yup, despite the turnovers, both sides needed to win and they did.

160 passing yards, and what, 78 came on one play?

We allowed fewer QB hits than the rest of the league prior to this game. I would be curious to go back and see how many guys Pittsburgh were sending after Jimmy on average. While their strategy was clearly to get hits on Jimmy, they gave up over 5.5 yards per carry in non-goal line rushes, and Jimmy G completed over 70% with 8.7 yards per attempt.

While it's always part of the game plan to get to the QB, you hopefully do it without leaving the middle of the field open to the run and pass. Pittsburgh was loading up the edges, but we responded by usually driving down the field at will. Their were freakish turnovers, this easily could have been a 37-20 game.

i mean, we WERE finding a way to lose the game. but our team is stronger mentality-wise and is more experienced now. now they're coming out with close wins instead of close losses.
I HATED watching that game. So frustrating. But now I love how we won. What's great is we continue to fly under the radar.

You know the narrative will be "49ers should've lost that game"...and they're partially right. And it will be "They barely beat Rudolph led Steelers team at home"

Just more fuel for the players to answer the call. Keep showing up. Keep getting those Ws. Ugly, pretty I don't care...just get the W.

The hits on Jimmy had nothing to do with Skule. Steelers continuously sent more blitzers than blockers. It was a risk that did not pay off, jimmy did not get rattled and made them pay for the lack of people in coverage.
