Big difference this year:

We can't afford to lose Bosa or anymore ERs... at least we have reinforcements at DT, but ER is already thin

No team in the league can afford to lose a player like Bosa.
Across the board all of the linemen who were on the team last year are playing better this year and the kids are getting better week by week. Having two 1-tech tackles on the practice squad that can't make the 53 seems like food for a trade some time.
Looks like we need to bring up Trevis Gipson. He was a force in the preseason.

Yup; I liked him. I'd elevate both him and Valdez. Mykel might just have to play more snaps on edge

Pretty much the only choices we have honestly.
So does anyone have any ideas of the best practice squad DE's out there? There has to be a t least a couple guys who looked decent but teams didn't have room.

So the 49ers save 7.7 million off the cap because they had insurance on Bosa for a season ending injury. Sounds they can theoretically trade for someone and not mess up the cap for next season

If my math and understanding of contracts is correct (very well might not be correct at all):

A team that trades for Trey Hendrickson at the deadline only has to pay him $7.52M

What about trading for him now? Hendrickson, Mykel and Huff would be almost no drop off in pass rush.
Yes! Trade for Trey ASAP. We don't want to lose any games because of this. We want the #1 seed.

A 49ers win over Jaguars and a Bengals loss to the Broncos would greatly increase the odds of a trade, especially if the 49ers can get through this next game without any critical injuries. Maybe getting the third Trey will finally get us that long awaited "TREY AREA!" chant.

This potential trade with the Bengals makes way too much sense. I'm almost expecting it to happen very soon. With Bosa's long injury history, I wouldn't even be upset if we decided to extend Hendrickson and maybe move on from Nick. He's a great player, but availability matters in this league when you're making superstar money and eating up a chunk of the cap.

That sucks for the players but your 💯 correct. I think Trey is older so may be a wash for an extension. We would have to wait and find out.
