This. There is no way the chargers let him walk without franchising him. Joey could make it clear that he wont re sign with them and might be able to force them to trade him at that point , but It would probably cost at least a 1st and 2nd rounder to get him IMO. Which I would do assuming we could work out a long term deal before the trade. More then likely though If we are able to get him at some point, it wont be until the year after they franchise him.

Melvin Gordon did that and it worked out for the Chargers. I can see them doing it again.

Not a fair comparison because J Bosa plays a premium position whereas Gordon can be replaced by a rookie.
