Trading valuable picks will disrupt our rebuild. Enjoy the wins now, enjoy watching the young dogs get better. Yes we are 3-0 but does anyone really think we can run with the nfc top teams? I just don't see it yet. We will get there but it's going to take a bit of time. Be patient.

To me, it's all a matter of a team's heart. Unified, together they can do anything! If my memory serves me right, I recall reading some little middle school book when I was young called something like "Go Team Go!" It was about some little school team that had to replace all the starters because of some middle school foolishness that happened. Those replacement guys marched all the way to the championship game, or something close to it. Yes it was fiction, but I hope my point is being made.

Back to the real world: at least where I work, so much good, in terms for growth, performance, and potential, is stymied because so-called leadership refuses to let others shine, are so condescendingly critical and cautious toward them. They think they need to do it all and have very little faith in their "people." They don't know how to inspire and encourage their crew. I offen feel they'd be amazed at what we can accomplish if the "leaders" got out of the way and just let the rest of us WORK.

That's a lot I know. But we got to believe in what the team CAN do (with who they have) instead of what they cannot do.

We should know closer to the Trade Deadline if we need to make a splash for a Pass Rusher. We might not even need a big splash but just someone good enough to make sure the QB doesn't have all day in the pocket.

that's it,.... we're still week3, the trade deadline is week10,... still 6-7 games where anything can happen

IMO the next 3 games are crucial for the 49ers' season:
- Jax
- Rams
- Bucs
and this seems to be the hardest stretch of the whole season,... after that, it comes an easier one with Atlanta, Houston and the Giants to reach mid-season,.... I think the 3 first ones (the hard stretch) are very winnable,... they could win the 3 of them (they could also lose the 3, obviously),...
in case they win and get a 6-0, I would try to get the best possible DE avalaible (and here I think Hendrikson is a real possibility for something like a 3rd and a 4th),... with the schedule they have they could aspire to be first in the conf. and play the whole playoffs and SB at home

if they lose the next 3, I would just begin thinking in the next season,....
and then there are rest of the outcomes in the middle,... let see what happens these next 3 games,... but watching the team's attitude this season I'm very optimistic and think that a 6-0 or a 5-1 is very possible

My guess is come the trade deadline we'll be 6-3. Whether that means we splash or not is anyone's guess. If we're 7-2 or better I easily think we should. If we're 5-4 or worse just stick with what we've got—unless there's a scenario where we're 5-4 because our offense got healthy late and looked REALLY good instantly.

We should still make the playoffs even if we're hobbling and only 5-4 at the deadline IMO. 7-7 the rest of the way gets us there and our schedule still doesn't look super tough on paper. But if it's obvious we'll get blasted by Detroit or Philadelphia or Green Bay or Washington or Tampa once we get there then it's best we just keep our draft assets and let the youngsters grow through the pain.
I apologize if this has been discussed but does anyone have details on the insurance policy thing with teams getting salary cap space back if someone gets hurt?

I've heard of teams/players having this type of thing for the overall business or their personal finances but never heard about it where it helps the salary cap?

is this something the league will sell teams? The NFLPA?

maybe AB will know.

I think we beat Jacksonville, assuming Brock is back.

rams will be tough and so will TB. If we can at least split those - I'd hope we make a big trade of some type to try and actually make a run.

if we can be 5-1, with all the rookies and injuries, we should just get better as we get guys back and rookies get exp. I'd hope we would take a chance.

I'm not a salary cap expert at all, but my guess is it's written into the contract directly as "guaranteed for injury." Whatever isn't guaranteed for injury the team would get back if it's determined there's an injury.

What I do know is $7M would actually cover a lot of what we would have to pay a pass rusher we're trading for midseason, if not more. You can't look at it as "Hendrickson is owed $16M" because the $16M is for the full season, not just part of it. Half a season for Hendrickson essentially equals that $7M.

I never heard of getting salary cap back with insurance too, quite odd! No idea how it works but it seems really smart to do with any big contract.

I can't imagine we win the next three. Jax maybe, but not the Bucs or Rams. We are not playing as well as either of those two and our 3-0 start is a bit flukey imo. We haven't looked strong at any point while those teams have at several points.

NFL should do something about the team getting a certain percentage of contracts not applied to the current year Salary Cap if that player is injured and cannot play.

Not sure exactly how it should work but teams are heavily penalized if a major player is injured. They basically are screwed for that year.

The offense looked borderline dominant in the first drive against Seattle with Kittle getting fed. This team has been scrappy which was sorely lacking last season. We haven't choked away a win like the rams did either. Wouldnt shock me at all if they start putting up a lot of points once the guys on offense come back soon. Hoping its enough to carry with no Bosa for a while.
You know the moment they make a big trade for a DE someone else vital will go down.

$7 million doesn't kick in till next season.

I definitely think the 49ers should get someone this year to replace Bosa's production. You have to look at the Saints, Jets, Giants, Dolphins and Tennessee as their seasons are pretty much done. It would be nice to get someone ASAP because you don't want to lose any games because of this and lose the #1 seed.

I'm worried that the Bengals won't give up Hendrickson because they are 2-1 in a bad division. They still think they can be competitive in that division and I get that.
