49ers are 3-0 and 2-0 in their division with their second string team. Everyone is coming back this week and next and we are for sure Super Bowl contenders which Vegas believes as well. Sign someone like Thibideaux from the Giants and Bosa is long forgotten.

Matthew Judon Miami. On last year of his deal at 3 million. Bargain basement option.

Arden Key Titans. Last year of his deal at 6 million. Would help out this year fir cheap compensation without any future requirements.

Samson Ebukam INDY. Last year of his deal. Indy's 4th ER. They also have JTT they drafted in the 2nd waiting behind him.

Swing for the fences

Kayvon Thibodeaux NYG Would have to pay him big money. He's younger than Bosa. Could pay Kayvon have he and Bosa fir a couple years then let Bosa walk before resigning him. Keeping the younger option.

Trey Hendrickson Cincinnati or Danielle Hunter of HOU. each on last year of their deals. Not sure i love either option considering trade compensation, age and future contract required to make it worth it. I think I'd pass on both if I'm being honest.

My preference would be.
1. Kayvon Thibodeaux.
2. Samson Ebukam
3. Matthew Judon
4. Arden Key

After that look at practice squad guys
Bradyn Swinson in NE
Tyreke Smith KC
Fadill Diggs Saints
Mohammed Kamara TB

Bengals are going to flounder. They don't have a good enough defense to get them through Burrow's loss.

Danielle Hunter is signed through 2026, not just this season (Texans specifically signed him to a one-year extension this past offseason). He would be due $22.6M in 2026 from a team that trades for him if I'm understanding it correctly. Not sure if that's fully guaranteed.

I agree. But I don't want to wait to get someone because we need to go after that 1 seed. I don't want to wait to see a team flounder.

I'm not a salary cap expert at all, but my guess is it's written into the contract directly as "guaranteed for injury." Whatever isn't guaranteed for injury the team would get back if it's determined there's an injury.

What I do know is $7M would actually cover a lot of what we would have to pay a pass rusher we're trading for midseason, if not more. You can't look at it as "Hendrickson is owed $16M" because the $16M is for the full season, not just part of it. Half a season for Hendrickson essentially equals that $7M.

Yeah, from what I've read is that it's insurance policies the team negotiated with the league, incase of injuries to players they give big contracts to. That way if they get hurt, it helps the team in some way.

it cost the team money to do it, and not every team does it. Apparently only half of the league is actively doing it.

I hope the details on this stuff come out. The jets didn't do it with Rodgers but the packers did with love. Very interesting.

Well I guess there are other ways to free up money this year if they need to. We will know if they are going to make a trade if they start restructuring some deals.

Thibo/Chubb/Phillips/other scraps from bad teams aren't going to come in and save the season. We need someone who's at least 80% as good as Bosa and the two players I mentioned above fit the bill.

I think we may have seen the best of Bosa unfortunately. I don't think it's feasible to trade him. Not that I want him traded, but that contract is gonna start hurting next season. I think his role should be reduced to 60/40 moving forward.

don't think Hunter is an option,... he's contracted through 2026, as you said, and the 49ers already have their 2026 Edge rushers: Bosa, Huff, Williams,

yeah, those 22,6 are fully guaranreed,... so niners are not paying another edge +$20M having Bosa, Huff and Williams under contract

but the Bengals didn't want to extend Hendrikson, even though he asked for it or a trade,... Bengals just increased his salary for this year hoping to have a good run,... this is not going to happen, Bengals' season is over and he'll be a FA after this season,... Bengals will get nothing unless thwy trade him
no one is going to give a first for one half-season hire,... neither a 2nd, I think,... I see more something like a 3rd and a 4th,... and I would do it if we start 6-0 or 5-1,... no doubt
last time I read about it, they were assigning another 3 4ths and a 5th to the 9ers for next year's draft

I think Thib makes the most sense to trade for. Not that he's the best but just cause his role is gonna be getting smaller in NY he's still on a cheap rookie deal. And honestly if we got him there's a real chance we would actually extend him unlike Hendrickson and Hunter.

It's only the third week completed. Even the Bengals have dreams. Most likely no trade movement until October. Which is fairly standard it seems. Most teams don't want to admit failure after three games unless the Cowboys.
