Not looking good. Not in the building preparing with the team. We need to prepare for 8 games without him. hopefully Jackson and Clelin Ferrell can generate an adequate pass rush teams have to prepare for, otherwise the season is over.
Sign Melvin Ingram, make Bosa play out his contract, draft a pass rusher with our top pick in next years draft, tag Bosa in 2025, and again in 2026. Now, if we can go 6-2 while he's out we win back the leverage.
Niners won't have the cap space to tag Bosa. You can't take that money and spread it out. Whatever the tag is that's what his cap number will be. And I think the tag number for a DE is close to $30 Million.
Yea they will. They will restructure players. They can free up $45m on restructures alone - not counting trades or cuts.
Let's be clear. There is zero chance Bosa does not get tagged should he remain on his original deal.
yeah, we technically can tag and keep bosa, but it's going to screw up the quality of the team. if we want to keep the team we have and resign other guys, we need bosa to be on an extension - this gives us the ability to mess with his cap hit, while still paying him.
what JTB is saying is that if we tag bosa, and keep him on the current fifth year option, his entire salary is a total cap hit - which is really hard on us. for example, we will be over the cap $40M next year if we do that. it would be better for everyone to have him sign an extension.
but yeah, we could force him to stay here the hard way, it's just going to be hard on the teams cap - which will result in a tougher situation to keep guys that we want (Greenlaw, Aiyuk etc).
