Blitzing Pickett is not a good idea. Very highly rated vs blitz. You want to play him with pressure from 4.

Did he get paid in the playoffs? How about the entire season he was hurt? Such BS. Trade this guy please.

Sign Melvin Ingram, make Bosa play out his contract, draft a pass rusher with our top pick in next years draft, tag Bosa in 2025, and again in 2026. Now, if we can go 6-2 while he's out we win back the leverage.

Niners won't have the cap space to tag Bosa. You can't take that money and spread it out. Whatever the tag is that's what his cap number will be. And I think the tag number for a DE is close to $30 Million.

Like you said, this negative situation could be a positive, if they sign more DE help… yet we all know they won't before a loss to Pittsburg.

How do they sign more players with no cap space? People forget that we are over the cap until he signs the extension.

Is this true? I thought we had the second most cap space currently?

Yes. AB outlined that until Bosa signs the extension and lowers his #s this year, the team is like $1.4M over the cap. That is if he shows and plays under current deal…

Dude, the cap is going up. They'll have the money to tag him.

I don't think it's anywhere near that.

Yea they will. They will restructure players. They can free up $45m on restructures alone - not counting trades or cuts.

Let's be clear. There is zero chance Bosa does not get tagged should he remain on his original deal.

yeah, we technically can tag and keep bosa, but it's going to screw up the quality of the team. if we want to keep the team we have and resign other guys, we need bosa to be on an extension - this gives us the ability to mess with his cap hit, while still paying him.

what JTB is saying is that if we tag bosa, and keep him on the current fifth year option, his entire salary is a total cap hit - which is really hard on us. for example, we will be over the cap $40M next year if we do that. it would be better for everyone to have him sign an extension.

but yeah, we could force him to stay here the hard way, it's just going to be hard on the teams cap - which will result in a tougher situation to keep guys that we want (Greenlaw, Aiyuk etc).

The only year he was hurt the team missed the playoffs. Every other year the team went to the NFC championship and once to the SB. 37-14 with Bosa and 5-10 without him. Counting the playoffs, Bosa has 38 sacks the last 2 years. I also find it funny people say Bosa doesn't show up in the playoffs. It's like they just became a Niner fan last year. He had 4 sacks in 3 games in 2019 and 4 sacks in 3 games in 2021. He also had a forced fumble in 2019 and forced fumble in 2021. And he should have gotten credit for a sack against Hurts last season but they said Hurts was classified as a runner and Bosa didn't get credit for a sack.
