No Bosa, Buckner. Buckner is going to have a big chunk of salary cap change going to him. It will affect Nick's contract in the future. Keep in mind if Solomon pans out, and I have confidence he will - he'll command a sizable chunk of the cap there also. Having said that, I think the front office should gameplan a salary cap structure where the two foundational pieces of the team (QB and Edge Rusher) are always market competitive so that they don't get caught paying 15% to a cornerback or a WR when the two foundational pieces need to be fed the correct cap percentage.

The CBA will be coming up for renegotiation in 2020 or thereabouts and while I don't think any significant changes will be made in the CBA, I think for sure the CBA cap ceiling will continue to rise. They need to sign Buck while the cap is where it is, so that if the cap does increase (and I think it will *significantly*) you can take advantage of the cap appreciation to sign Bosa and Solomon (or whoever they need to) past 2020 CBA renegotiation.

First, let's hope he stays healthy long enough to sign a new contract. Second, let's hope he plays so well that they have to pay him big bucks. I'll let Parag figure out how they do it. That's what they pay him for. Nick's job is to get after the QB and not worry about how much he is going to make.

I still remember 1995 burned in my brain and we lost Lott and others due to the cap, and then after the super bowl loss and the Baalke cap mismanagement situation. We lot Delanie and some others when we shouldn't have. I have Post Traumatic Cap Distress because of those years. Praage has being doing a great job, and I hope he continues, but it's *so easy* to get into cap hell once you start winning. And that's what the cap does, it penalizes winning.

Agree. And I think they need to sign Buckner in such a way that his cap hit when Bosa is going for his second contract is minor. That's all I'm saying. I think they have this next year to negotiate with Buckner and then I think they can pick up Buckner's final rookie year option - but that's at the cusp of the CBA re-negotiation timeframe. Here's what I want them to avoid. I want them to avoid overpaying other positions at the expense of the Edge rusher position and the QB position. Bellicheat does a great job of this, and it's my hope that ShanaLynch can replicate that.

Guys, remember that Bosa won't be able to sign an extension with those short arms, plus he's got to end his holdout before he can get an extension, and we all know how Bosas like to hold out. Just ask anybody who listens to Grant Cohn...

The CBA will expire two years before Bosa's rookie contract expires. Lockout, salary cap freeze in exchange for eliminating two preseason games? Anything can happen and I'm not losing sleep over it.
