Not so fast, 49ers will tag Gould according to PFT if no deal reached.

Alright peeps...put in your targets and off season plans. I see some shooting down added talent ideas so let's see what your plans are. No bashing, please.

Free Agency:
Earl Thomas - go in hard and fast. Don't try to cheap out and try to get a "team-friendly" deal. It's not going to work. Probably need a Nate Clements type of contract to get him to sign.
CJ Mosley - need a linebacker. It's okay if he resigns with the Ravens. But we should target if he's available.
Dante Fowler / Shaquil Barrett / Ansah - Need a guy to play LEO. Self-explanatory. Regardless of how you feel about these guys, they need someone to man the position. Memes aside, we can't have Marsh and Thomas taking snaps here anymore
Draft:
Round 1:
1) Quinnen Williams - would love to have Bosa drop here, but looking at it realistically, its not going to happen. Pray that the Jags trade up with us for Haskins. Otherwise if we are stuck here, then take the best available. If I'm John Lynch, I do not want to reach here for Need. Because doing something like that could potentially cost me my job. At the end of the day, we need blue chip talent and this is a safe pick. We would have one of the best d-lines at creating interior pressure like what the Rams are doing.
Round 2:
2) Dalton Risner / Garrett Bradbury - They impressed me a lot in the Senior Bowl. Take one of these guys if they are available. Risner is self-explanatory because of Staley's age. He could kick into guard for now. Bradbury because I am still not sold on Richburg. His play needs to improve. I understand he was injured, but I don't like taking chances with a franchise QB.
Round 3:
3) Keelan Doss - He comes from a small school in our own backyard. I like him. Great hands. Good route running. Will probably drop to the 3rd because of lack of competition. I think he will be underrated and swept up by the Packers or something. I hope that whatever we do, that Shanahan takes a big bodied wide receiver and stops getting small guys because our red zone issues will continue to be a big problem going forward unless something is addressed. Maybe that means getting another big Tight End with good route running to take the pressure off of Kittle.

Ideally, I'd want to move Buckner to Big End. And have Armstead traded out of here. Because despite what Saleh says or thinks, I still think Buckner could excel there as well.
BE: DeForest Buckner
1T: DJ Jones
3T: [Quinnen Williams]
LEO: [Ezekiel Ansah/Dante Fowler/Shaquil Barrett]
But since Saleh is stubborn and won't move Buckner out of the 3T spot, then this probably won't work unless he's open to new ideas.

Keep in mind too, keeping Buckner at 3T is a money-move. If you put him out to edge, he's going to cost significantly more. That's why they are probably in a mad scramble to pay him now. He only played about 100 snaps on the edge last year.
But yeah...as for what's best for the whole defense, I agree.

Totally disagree that they are keeping him at 3T as a money saving move. They are going to do what's best for the team and keeping Buckner at 3T is where he's best at and what's best for the team.

I'd be ok with pursuing ET but maybe it's just me, but I'm not sold on him for big money. He's had 2 injury years and we've had enough of that around here. Plus, maybe it's naivete, but I still am pulling for AC.
We need to find a replacement/competition for Tartt. Dude is always in the trainers room. If Amos hits the market(I doubt it, but hey, it's still possible with CHI salary cap problems) I say we pick him up in a heartbeat.
I'd also go for LaMarcus Joyner should he hit FA. LA has about 32 mil in cap room and 4 big FA's. Suh, Joyner, Saffold, Fowler. Suh's and Joyner's contracts from last year alone would be 25 mil. One of those 4 won't get re-signed. I don't know if LA is going to sign Joyner over Fowler since Fowler is younger and whatever guy they commit to, long-term really better be worth it because that player will be in the last couple years of his contract when they need to re-sign Goff to a mega deal so they better be able to help them compete for a SB for years.
I don't think LA will franchise tag him. But maybe they will.
I say we go get Anthony Barr to pair with Fred Warner. I don't think MINN will be able to keep him. They only have about 5 mil in cap space, are losing Sheldon Richardson, their starting C, Keaton, their K, Dan Bailey and Latavius Murray.
Barr can be what we've thought/hoped Malcolm Smith would be. We can still keep Smith at SAM since he played there when Foster was still with us or cut him. I don't care.
After that, draft Bosa or Josh Allen with the #2 and call it a day.
We can then try and pick up O-line help throughout the rest of the draft.
This way, we shore up all our major needs and look forward to a year with a healthy Jimmy and Jet and some pass rush.
