The future is now!

Not yet, unless we magically solve our pass rush problem, but we're close

At least 10-6 with a playoff berth is what I'm expecting

no pass rush. one proven linebacker who is gone for two games. a untested secondary. a questionable line and run game?? lol,. 8 wins
They've done an amazing job rebuilding the foundation of the team after inheriting, not only an abysmal roster, but what was a POS organization from the top of Jed's bald head all the way down the ladder (no offense to Joan in Accounting, but come on...)

Now the culture has changed, Jed has grown up a bit, humbled, and moved the fvck out of the way. The organization seems to be running like a legit business, John and his team are drafting well, and the players they're selecting fit both schematically and culturally. Parag is pwning the contract game, which is a huge asset since we seem focused on long term success ala New England.

The players we're adding are smart, fast, and seem to have a team-first mentality. The most important piece (Jimmy GQ) is in place, and we have some other players that look up and coming. The roster isn't there yet, we lack depth at many positions still, and missing some key starters, namely a pass rusher, but I am confident in this FO to make that happen.

2019 and beyond is looking pretty damn good!

being fast is nice but we lack physicality. and before anyone starts.. the golden era where we had the us postal service make a stamp to honor those days,, the team was much more physical then people know or remember, the first super bowl team was really a blue collar punch you in the mouth team

We have no pass rush other than Buckner. It's so bad that KS is considering bringing back Dumervil.

Unfortunately the league is moving away from being a punch you in the mouth physical brand of football...just gonna get flags thrown at you all day.

That offense lead by shannahan in 1994 wasn't a punch you in the mouth system. We saw plently of "punch you in the mouth" style of offenses with Singletary and Harbs people complained about it...now we want it back? lol people complain to complain.

As far as defense goes it's more about being good at tackling, great coverage, and getting pressure....we will see about that. A lot of young players on the defensive side right now.

i think they may see who gets cut before they call elvis. its not an ideal plan but at least its a plan. its too bad we fans have to come up with these ideas to fix the pass rush but at least kyle picked up on it when he was reading the web zone

Plently of interior pass rush (buck/Thomas/day/jones/Taylor) but we got s**t on the outside for nickel rushers.

Ya, cuts will be interesting. Or maybe another team needs interior D-lineman or WRs, and we make a trade.
Shane Ray or Fowler Jr plz

It's realky impressive how Lynch and Shanahan have transformed this team! If you consider who the players of the future are, almost all are Lynch/Shanahan pickups, and mostly draftees.

QB: Garoppolo
RB: McKinnon & Breida
FB: Juszczyk
WR: Goodwin, Pettis, Taylor, Bourne, & James
TE: Kittle
OT: McGlinchey
OG: —
C: Richburg
DE: Thomas
DT: Buckner* & Taylor
ER: —
OLB: —
MLB: Foster & Warner
CB: Witherspoon, Moore, & Reed
S: Tartt* & Colbert
P: —
K: Gould

*non-Lynch/Shanahan pickup

That's a pretty stacked team, future looks bright! The major whole is pass rush. Hopefully they can manufacture pass rush this season.

Laken Tomlinson is signed through 2021, while I think Pinion is extended, same for Kyle Nelson.

Taylor should be at DE, Sheldon Day at DT, DJ Jones at NT, K'Waun Williams at SCB, he's still young. Street at DE if he comes back solid.

Magnuson at just OL, since he's so damn versatile. Elijah Lee could turn into a long term ST'er and take over Coyle's spot in a year.

Plus McFadden could be a star in a few yrs with grooming.
I'd also keep Garcon around as long as he can go, he's a guy you keep for veteran presence. I can see Malcolm Smith at OLB being here for a few more years.

I am not optimistic. We have a brilliant QB, a bunch of good receivers, an average O line trending in the wrong direction and an average D line save Buckner. A young DB contingent relying on a 30 year old HOF'r coming off an achilles to anchor the group.. Little depth everywhere save WR.

Garoppolo with his receiver corps will move the football despite a line who will struggle protecting and run blocking.. If Saturday night is any indication of the O line's ability to run block, facing a Houston D line holding out three key guys they are in for a rude awakening opening up with Minnesota, September 9th..
