I wouldn't call him a distraction but I question how much he can help after being out this long. It usually takes a game or two after an injury before you can feel confident enough to play your normal game.

What are you talking about? We had 2 LBs in that last game that weren't even on the roster a month ago, and they balled out. If Fred played, he wouldn't be playing at his All Pro level, but he'd DEFINITELY help and make an impact. That being said, we won't see him again this season unless, by some miracle, they make the Super Bowl.

Fine but is it worth risking him hurting that ankle again. I assume that if he's cleared to play ther anklke is healthy but those replacemnet played great last week. No guarantee that Fred can step right in and play better after that injury. It won't be an issue anyway unless they can beat Seattle.

They're not going to have him play 100% of snaps. Even just having someone of Fred's caliber come on the field for 50% of snaps in the NFCCG would completely throw off the other team on the plays that he is in. Fred changes the game.

Tuesday of Super Bowl week is the end of Fred's 21-day practice window from today. Only hurts to open his practice window this week, if he still would need those extra days on the backend.

I'll be surprised if they don't open his practice window this week. Unlikely he's ready this week, but can be ready for the SB if 9ers reach that point.

Wasn't the original injury a dislocation and break? So, if he were to worsen that, isn't another break and dislocation the worst case scenario? Even if that happened, he'd be ready to go at the start of next season. End of the day it's up to the team to listen to what the docs say and make the best decision. Everyone would love to see it, but unless they made the Super Bowl, it just isn't realistic.

The 49ers are opening Fred Warner's practice window today
