Frontpage Article says the Window has to be opened at least a week before the game so the player can get in a specific number of trainings.
Is this a rule by the nfl?

Haven't heard that rule. The rule I heard was once it's opened, the team has to activate him within three weeks.

Once opened you can activate them immediately that week if you want

I may be mistaken, but I believe for a player to come back from IR - the team has to open the practice window and be convinced the guy is able to play. it gives the team time to make sure they're ready before opening a roster spot.

He won't be back this week but if they beat Seattle they might seriously start to consider getting him ready so he's available for the SB if they get that far.

From what I know, once they active the player off IR they have a 21- day window to practice with the team and they can either play them or they will go on season ended IR (within that timespan). They can be activated at any point, once they declare the 21- day window to practice.

Would think they would activate him this week if he is good enough to practice. Won't play the game but it would be good to get some regular practice in.

"We sitting in here, I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talking about practice. We talkin' 'bout practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last. We talkin' 'bout practice, man. How silly is that when we talkin' 'bout practice?"

Seriously tho, we could see Fred in a red practice jersey this week and that is amazing.

It would be amazing and a great boost to the team just to see his practice window open this week.

Unless the 49ers truly are considering playing Fred, he seems to be sort of a distraction with all of this drama.

If he feels ready to play, he should be out there. Tape that sucker up and go.

Fred say he's ready to go RIGHT NOW

They should at least let Fred start to implement himself back into the system. Let him get 10-20 plays this week and then ramp it up to 30-45 next week and then full go for the Super Bowl.
