Played well today except when Mustapha was busy picking his ass instead of getting deep on their TD

Think that was on Green, Mustapha had coverage on the inside route. Green bit on the inside and Tet made him pay. I think even Troy pointed it out on the cast.

Besides that play, it was a pretty good overall game from the secondary imo.

Green played that as if he had safety help. We will need to see the all 22.

Elway?

I don't want to take away flowers from the DBs for getting their INTs (been too long)...

That sh!tty Tard offense dropped nearly a thousand yards on our terrible secondary / defense

DBs were playing 10 yards off the entire 4th quarter. Is what it is

If the plan was to give up short / intermediate stuff but prevent quick TDs, then I guess... sure hope it gets better

We're sitting around 21st total defense in the league. The only team with a worse D (in playoff contention) that we'll face is Da Bears. If Niners' D can improve to close to middle of the pack come playoff time, that could be huge... as long as offense keeps dropping 30 / 40 burgers, they have a legit shot of going deep.

I'm okay with that considering no Warner or Bosa or Huff or Mykel Williams and the Cards running up garbage time stats.

Secondary looking pretty solid lately and finally racking up TOs. They have stayed relatively healthy and could be turning the corner

This group is certainly stepping up even the safeties are getting better.
The 49ers reversed. Used to be front end was the best. Now it's the back end that carries us. I realize this has a lot to do with injuries. But also losing Buckner and Armstead. Mykel being a set the edge guy who is not really a pass rusher. Now injured unfortunately. Bosa injured as well. But the secondary is clearly better than our front at this point. Get the front line back and healthy. Sprinkle in a few good draft picks and free agents. This could really be an outstanding defense in 2026. Which will do well for us.
Someone. Anyone. Take command of the FS spot / ball hawk like a MF'r and let Mustapha patrol the box Who? Any hope?

They looked bad, then they looked like they were coming around, back to looking bad... tonight they really need to show up

A lot of time it's just discipline and staying with your man, they get caught up in the moment trying to do freelance and what not

Thankfully Green will be back. Hyena's hyped about going man with JSN, hope that goes well but the safeties really need to be better
One of the worst units in the entire league

Renardo Green will be back and hopefully Upton Stout is good to go. If those two are back then it makes a big difference. They still won't be great but could be serviceable.

With our offense, we just need them serviceable.

It is hard to be a great unit in the secondary in general. There are a few but mostly you have good solid units and most of the solid units are working with a pass rush something ours doesn't have. I believe with a better pash rush and linebacker unit the secondary would look so much different.
