2011-2013 49ers

2011 was a joy, even with the heartbreaking NFC CG loss. It had the great close wins in the regular season (Philly being the best one), and of course The Catch III (which I legit called in the game thread here on NT ). Probably my favorite 49er season that I followed start to finish aside from the 1994 season. (Years I've followed all the games: 1992-1997, 2006-present; college and early 20s life really disrupted my ability to follow the team for a good while there. I watched games in 1998-2005, but only a handful a year + playoffs).

2012 was enjoyable, but also irksome because of the QB drama and how the defense just couldn't hold up late in the playoffs.

2013 was enjoyable, but ultimately frustrating because the first clear signs of Harbaugh/Roman's offensive scheme limitations reared their head at the most inopportune times (re: in Seattle), which ended up being the final straw that would lead to the downward spiral over the next three seasons.

Pretty much. 5-0 = 5-1 in my eyes. If you don't bring home a Lombardy, the season basically sucked. Yeah, I admit I'm spoiled!

I agree with all that.

We were all delighted when Harbaugh was named to replace the incompetents that preceded him. That alone got him a lot of support. However, he came with some issues he never fixed. He was fortunate to have inherited a boatload of high picks that were ready to win...but not the big games. That was on him.

In hindsight, his image was enhanced not by what he actually accomplished but in comparison to those who came before. In truth, he is still over-rated by many.

It was nice to have a chance at wining, but 20+ years of playoff dominance in a row, and the only thing we talk about are those 5 wins. So getting the Lombardi makes a difference in my opinion. Look at poor Seadderall, all they have is one measly Lombardi and look how they cherish that! They almost look like us fans at times talking about that one measly win, and we have *5* of em. That makes me feel a lot better!

Some overvalued those years cus we were s**t for 10+ prior seasons.

Some undervalued those years cus jim and the team couldnt bring home #6.

So you are asking me after the fact that i know we lost the SB if i would rather be 5-0 and not lost the SB or go to the SB and lose and be 5-1. Yes i would have rather not gone then go and lose knowing we lost

We could've probably make 3 straight SB appearances and win all 3 but... Yeah, Time to move on. .
