That's something the fans see as a need, not Kyle. I've yet to hear Kyle say he needs a big receiver, and judging by who he's brought in through free agency and the draft over the last two years, I wouldn't hold my breath for one.

The reality is that the traits Kyle wants in his WRs are rarely found in big receivers.

That might explain why they struggle to score TD's in the red zone. Other than Kittle they don't have a big receiver to throw to in the tight spaces of the end zone. Hard to throw the ball up high or do the deep corner fade with all those little guys. Maybe Kyle prefers field goals.

The Niners are next to last in TDs in the red zone. Shanahan's scheme moves the ball between the 20s as well as that of any coach. But will he show he is learning by modifying his scheme to increase the team's chances for TDs in redzone? It could be a canary in a coal mine test for how next season might go for the Niners.

Salary Cap: We're projected to have $65.4M before cuts.

2019 Cap Cuts - Cap Savings:
Arik Armstead $9.05M
Pierre Garcon $6M
Garry Gilliam $5.05M
Cassius Marsh $4.2M
Malcolm Smith $4.05M
Earl Mitchell $3.7M
Brock Coyle $2.5M
Garrett Celek $2.1M
K'Wuan Williams $1.85M
Dekoda Watson $1.5M
C.J. BeatHard $786K
Ronald Blair $720K
Matt Dayes $645K
Trent Taylor $645K
James Onwualu $645K
Godwin Igwebuike $570K
J.P. Flynn $495K
Tarvarus McFadden $13K = +$44.64

2019 Total Cap: $110M

How about Ward?

Why would we cut Blair? He's played well. Also Garcon's 2019 year is an option year, if they decline they only save like $1.2M, Smith's number would be post June 1, meaning we don't get the cap room till June 2nd. Remember those smaller cuts don't count much as the top 51 count, and someone will take their spot making the same amount.

There you are! So I asked that very thing after Lombardi posted this.

I trust your work the most, obviously but letting you know, it's out there.

PS: This is just a grand list of potential cuts and a max cap space. Like you said, you still need to fill a 90 man roster, then down to your final 51/53.

Blair, I love. He's cheap and good. But when you consider potential draft and free agent signings and Street and Taylor coming into the fold, someone is out...quite a few actually. We're crazy deep on Big Ends and interior DT's.

I'm watching this game out of pure boredom:

It would be cool to have a "big" DL like GB. Could that work in today's pass happy NFL?

The Goat Reggie White LE - 6'5 300
Santana Dotson 3T - 6'5 290
Gilbert Brown NT - 6'3 350
Sean Jones RE - 6'7 280

If they cut Garçon, Smith, Mitchell, Gilliam, and Coyle, what would their 2019 cap space be? Do you think they bring back AA at that price tag or can they negotiate something else?

Just those 5?

It depends on Garcon's deal and if we'll get back the $1.2M or $6M in cap space because of the opt-out in his contract.

Good question on AA. I'd love AB's thoughts on it too.

And Brown, like our own Ted Washington was really pushing 380-400.

Saleh be like, "We'll get there!"

Hell no! Look at our "big personnel" today. Top 5 run defense yet 27th in points. You gotta have a pass rush, disguise blitzers and have sound coverage these days.

It can if all the fatties can pass rush well like in Jacksonville last year.

Reggie White would definitely work. Dude was the freakiest edge rusher of all time. 300 lbs but he could win with speed from the edge. Not to mention his signature hump move. I don't know if we'll ever see an athlete like that again.

He was insane. Just an absolute FREAK. Calais Campbell isn't too bad either. I bet Buckner could be pretty good too.

Yeah That's why I wanted clarification ...AB is saying it's like 1.2 if Garçon is cut. Thanks for doing it factoring in 6 and 1.2

Of course. AB is the master though. He's been busy though lately. He usually lives in here.
Fingers crossed!

Speaking of...the Minister of Defense. He prayed and prayed on his decision on where to go in free agency. He went to Green Bay (over us and others) and I was dying. THAT'S who God told you to go to?

OK God...lesson learned.

How about a small reward for a few of us Faithfuls?
