This team is 2 ER's and 8 DB's away from a NFL defense.

1- Pass rush.
Sadly Solomon Thomas will never be the pass rusher we drafted him to be. It looks like we will have to spend yet another high pick on the Dline. It looks like Lynch blew his first draft pick and reached on a player who has no fit and passed on guys who would have filled some big needs and made us better.
2- Cornerback
Akhello Witherspoon has been benched in back to back games. He has not looked good. Jimmy Ward and even Greg Mabin have been better. Sherman has played well but can he stay healthy? This is where Marcus Larttimore would have helped. We desperately need a #1 CB
3- Safety
I like Tartt but he just cannot stay healthy. Colbert has regressed a bit this year and his reckless playing style will lead to injuries. Ward is forced to play CB where he always should have been and we have no depth at either S spot.
4- Receiver
I like Goodwin but he is better suited as a #2 or #3. Taylor has not been the same chain mover this year and Garcon seems done. Bourne looks like he has potential as a nice #2 down the road but we lack a true #1. Someone teams are forced to roll coverage too. With the way the league is going preventing defenses from playing defense I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a WR with our #1 pick next year.
And a real LT (to either start next year or train under Staley if he can go one more year). We need at least one dominant G. And depth...unless you guys like Gilliam and Coleman. Our OL are ALWAYS injured.
Plus, like you said, same exact needs coming in; blue chip: ZWR, CB, S, ER, T/G
The OGs don't have to be dominant in the sense that Iupati was in run blocking. They have to be tenacious, smart and with a bit of a mean streak. In the past we had some pretty good OL but they did not play with attitude. Sadly, the one guy who may have done well in this regard retired rather than watch his weight...A Davis.
When I think about attitude Jeremy Newberry pops to mind. Sad that his career was too short! Only four years playing 16 games in his career.

I don't think Garcon is done, for some reason Beathard and when Jimmy played, they didn't look his way, he seems to be the guy defenses cover up, Kittle has been explosive. Goodwin is a solid #2 WR IMO.
Our biggest needs IMO, in no order, #1 WR, #1 RG, True LEO Edge Rusher, CBs, Safeties(depth, I like Colbert/Tartt combo, and they may have something with Exum). I'm not worried too much with Ahkello, covering Keenan Allen isn't easy, and Sherman is working through coming back from his injuries.
I've been pleasantly surprised and happy with Malcolm Smith's play in the 2 games. AA, Buck, even Thomas look good, Marsh not so much. Day, Jones, Blair are solid depth and role players. Mitchell is still good IMO, he keeps getting double teamed.
Our biggest weakness is no true ER/LEO(SAM isn't big in this defense so not that big of a need), and the Secondary, but that could be due to no pass rush, if your pass rush isn't their, your DBs will suffer. IMO anyway.

My guess on the 7 inactives this week.
Cole Wick, Dante Pettis, Marquis Goodwin, Jimmie Ward, Joshua Garnett, Jullian Taylor & Ronald Blair

I won't be able to be convinced next off season about trusting in this HC and FO if nothing is done to address recurring areas of weakness on this team. If I hear "I like who we have" I'm not going to like who we have running this team.
But it's a rebuild and I'm willing to wait.
If the sign says "Bridge Out" at some point you either turn around or get soaked.
LOL. We feel you man!

Everything.
There are holes all over this team and it lacks talent in every single unit.

This times a fkn million. In all reality this team sucks dick. Straight up. The fact that Mostert plays is pathetic. We have too many holes to be a legit contender.
Even with Jimmy heathy our D sucks badly.
Also I don't think we're being coached up that good this year. The number of dumb penalties is mind boggling

More of necessity today because of Breida's injury. He's a very good ST player. Every team needs those.

What are the positions you all think we are in decent/good shape in, in terms of depth. (Obviously injuries affect the depth a lot, but I'm simply speaking of talent on paper)
For me QB, FB, WR, C, DT, and S.
With help needed at TE, RB, DE, LB, and CB.

Percentage of snaps played this year:
— J Reid (@JReidNFL) October 13, 2018
• Ameer Abdullah (0%)
• Karl Joseph (3.4%)
• Dante Fowler (28.4%)
• Shane Ray (34.4%)
• Deone Bucannon (40.3%)
These are all names to keep an eye on as we get closer to the NFL trade deadline (Oct. 30).

I'm hoping we are going to try for Fowler
