NFL teams have until May 3rd, 2017 to exercise a fifth-year contract option on all first-round draft picks. The salaries are typically guaranteed for injury only (must pass a physical) and is effective until the first day of the 2018 league year (March 14th, 4PM EST), at which point the option money on the contract will become fully guaranteed.

Shelton has played every line position, having started at LT and RT as well as OC. If he makes the team he will be another very versatile backup! Nice!
