Are we a legit playoff team with Jimmy G?

What it always shows--what the players do.

For example, no ones going to be surprised by roll left after yesterday. Eventually tendencies emerge.

It's how the league turned Roman's gadget shifts to mush.

Point is, DC's have been preparing against Hoyer, CJ, not a legit pro.

things will get harder and eventually we will need talent. Two years.

But, could be one.

For example; did you not read the quote of Shanny about the rolling left against Jax; guess not. He had him rolling left because the Jax D expected him to roll right which is where he normally rolls according to film. This be just one example of how to easily change-up what teams see in film or past games.

Dude, he rolled right to find Celek vs the Titans. He rolls out where there is space if the pocket has collapsed and he makes plays. He's not Derek Zoolander.

Brodie just described Russell Wilson's entire career.

Jimmy is gonna be hard to game-plan against because he's fundamentals are so damn solid.

Totally!

A bunch of us are trying to not get too excited and look at JG objectively for weaknesses. Gunslinger is the only one right now I think.....an INT in almost every game when he has that great of a release, ability to read defenses, etc....only explanation for it really.

However, we've all seen the game manager type for way too damn long, so doubt anyone here has a complaint about it. Until an INT directly loses a game for the 49ers, don't think JG will get criticized for it.

I'm not too concerned. He will be great come next September and December will be ridiculous.

Best compliment to JG is the same one you give to Brady, Montana, etc:

"You beat them by putting pressure on them and taking away the run game."

Easier said than done. Not everyone can replicate 2015 Broncos on Brady type pass rush and coverage abilities.

a gunslinger who wins games is welcome any time. as much as I hated Favre, I wouldve taken him ina heartbeat after Steve retired. We have tried so many game manager types, I want us to be known as a great passing team again and that is what Jimmy brings to the table. Hes smart, quick release, always calm and he is confident in himself, his teammates and the playbook when he needs to make tight throws in coverage. That last aspect is what separates him from anyone we've had since Garcia. Jimmy believes that our guy will come down with the ball when throwing into tight coverage so he lets it rip. where has the cautious approach gotten us? Im hoping they throw a long term contract at him by the end of the week. Lock this man up now, hes already proven that hes the guy.
I think so, we prolly lose a close one to the upper tier playoff teams, cause our talent but If we plug our holes this offseason I fully expect to be in the championship game at least

I'll go with legit playoff contender in 2018 but not a legit SB threat until 2019.

I mean we could potentially be a legit SB threat in 2018 but I think you'd have to absolutely nail the draft and FA this upcoming offseason for that to happen.

Get a Chubb or Landry, then I'll believe it. Super Bowls are won by defense.

Not really anymore, but i get your point.

Agreed. Point of tape is that opponents can see what you like to do and come up with ways to take it away. Lots of people employed on staff to do nothing but that. So it gets harder. Who is knockin Kyle and JG? Unlike Roman and Kap, Kyle and Jimmy have answers and aren't gimmicks But eventually you need talent to win 1v1 matchups. Like Gronk Welker Moss Edelman etc. It's just how it goes. We need that talent to keep it going.

I think Landry would be chill and should be a day one nickel edge rusher.

I mean I think we can play with the eagles and rams now and we only gonna get better this offseason

This is the 64k question.

Can't say yes. Too many problems -- no pass rush, no all stars in back four (even with tartt ward), interior oline not really performers, no legit wr stud.

Once the tape starts coming in on Jimmy, things will get harder.

But how far away are we really?

We can use our number six for any one position of need and fill in the rest through fa. Please spend on oline talent takes too long for 22 year olds to play with the adults.

I trust shanny to scheme his way to success with just good not great offensive talent. If we can land an edge rush a lb a cb, we can be winners. But I think it will take two years.

Jimmy is doing what he's doing without training camp and limited knowledge of a complicated offense. Next year he will have the benefit of a full offseason and training camp and improved talent. I fully expect Jimmy to be Jimmy G next year, not to mention Shanny is calling plays, and is the best there is at that.
