That's quite the loser mentality there. If you're worried that this one game will somehow give the Rams some kind of additional advantage next year, you're wrong. Not one 49er won't be playing to win this weekend. Momentum and culture mean a lot.

DT Aaron Donald also will not play. Jared Goff and Todd Gurley not playing also means LT Andrew Whitworth and C John Sullivan will not play. Sean Mannion is Goff's backup; Malcolm Brown would be in line to get the bulk of the carries in Gurley's place.

That makes it about even. Our RT and G and original starting QB aren't playing either. Neither is ArmsDead or our starting and backup Free Safety. There is Hyde but he's a non factor.

Maybe we may even it out by starting Johnson. Hope he doesn't start at CB so that we can get a win.

Teams have certainly done it, with mixed success. If you have banged up starters and no chance to improve your playoff position it makes sense to get them healthy for the playoffs. But... It has also backfired in some cases over the years.

Football is such a momentum game! If you are on a roll, there is as much risk that you will lose you mojo if you rest your starters as there is in getting someone hurt.

Now, if you have guys who are nicked up and need an extra week to heal, then rest.

Ram fans think Goff is now a top tier franchise QB.....McVay is the reincarnation of Bill Walsh.....certainly hope the Niners bury their @$$ regardless of who is playing....
