Almost like preseason tryouts, last ditch effort for some to show the coaches they worth keeping.

I don't understand this type of thinking. After every win you see a crazy excited locker room of young guys who really haven't gotten to see many wins thus far in their careers. Basically outside of Staley, Juice and Dumervil, most of these players on the roster have lost way more than they've won in this league and the rest are rookies who too have very little experience in winning games.
I expect Shannahan to try and embarrass the Rams if they choose to sit guys because it's more important for us to keep our winning streak alive and carry this momentum into free agency, where we need to also win big.
If our boys can turn this into a laugher, then so be it. I personally hope Jimmy breaks a couple passing records on the Rams for not taking a division game serious. Hopefully the carryover effect gets them bounced out of the playoffs in the wildcard game. Hopefully a blowout also has a ton of players thinking "It sure would be nice to jump on that train early because that team has the look of something special!"
This is our last game of the season, so if the Rams choose to use this as a bye week, so be it, they play again in a couple of weeks, but we don't.
This needs to be our playoff game.

PS I think McVay is scared to death that the Niners could beat his starters straight up. And he doesn't want a "losing team" to send the Rams whimpering into the playoffs!

I think McVay wants his roster as healthy as possible going into the playoffs and hopes to take his team as far as they can go.

Very correct.
OF COURSE he wants his roster healthy. But I'd bet a hefty sum that he's damned glad that the Rams CAN rest their starters and that this game isn't a must win to make the playoffs.Originally posted by BuZzB05:Very correct.

100% Agree. There literally is NOTHING to gain by playing him. Let the young gun get another startOriginally posted by BuZzB05:I want Beathard put start against the rams this sunday if we can win or loss for matter to me. I really care for Garoppolo so much. Garoppolo should be off game this sunday.
