I think with the impressive showing of Goodwin to go along with Garcon it minimizes the need for a #1 WR in the first round. With zero need now for a QB to go along with this, the Niners can truly focus on pass rusher, LB, CB, and OL in both free agency and the draft.

I agree. I think WR has to be addressed but it isnt as big of a priority as the OL, edge rusher and LBs in particular. Give Jimmy time in the pocket and he will make the throws.

That's BS. He had time in the pocket at times today and none of the WRs were open nor could they compete with the DBs. In other words, it didn't matter even if the O-line could block on those few downs today. Jimmy had absolutely no one to go to.

No.1 WR is the most urgent need if you want to put points on the board and win games.

lol wrong. If you dont have a solid OL you cant run or pass consistently. Everyone knows that.

Phoenix has a good point. If you give a guy like Jimmy 4 seconds in the pocket every time - he can turn guys like Goodwin into hall of fame players. I'm all for drafting or getting FA Jerry Rice 2.0, but Montana and Young had their careers shortened or ended by guys like Jim Burt, Leonard Marshal, and a RB that didn't pick up the blitz.

New England is the perfect example. Other than Randy Moss how many star #1 WRs has Tom Brady had to throw to? However, he has always had a great line to protect him and because of that made guys like Hogan , Edelman, Welker, and Amendola look pretty damned good.

Great Point NJ! Walsh won two super bowls with two non-hall of freak WR's in Freddi and Clark.

Clark's more famous but Freddie was always a favorite of mine. Got the job done when it counted.

Kinda worried about Jimmy's deep throws.

Anyone have any more learned analysis to throw my way?

Me too

But he doesn't know playbook and not in sync with WR yet

Seriously? He was getting killed by that pass rush and was STILL dropping dimes. We have a sorry @ss group of receivers and you're questioning the guy who led us on 5 straight scoring drives? Okay...

We are talking specifically about deep plays that require tremendous timing. Stay on topic.

Stay on topic? I was, Sally.

Sorry. You seriously come across as a very condescending individual, but the Sally part was a douche move on my part.

Draft Roquan and then go oline and WR. Add another WR, DB and more oline in FA.

I'm all the way behind getting Roquan or a Nelson to build the o line. Games are won in the trenches. This offensive line needs to be better if we are going to be better.,

Roquan+Froster flying around on defense next season.

Would be incredible!

Jimmy G is a freakn Gunslinger

The throws he was making today, very impressive.

Agreed he stood tough despite being harassed by Clowney all day long , learned from Brady no doubt

His release is exactly what we need.

People associate Jerry Rice with the 49ers dynasty but they won 2 SB's before he ever showed up. If you have the right QB, he can make whatever receivers you have look better and if you give that guy the appropriate blocking and keep him upright, you can win even with lesser receivers. Not that you shouldn't look to upgrade the WR position but combined, how many SB's have Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens won?

Its fantastic to have a great wide receiver but if you have the right QB, not really necessary compared to having that OL and a quality run game.

I wanna talk about that stupid DeAndrew White fumble that couldn't be challenged due to White giving himself up. I think that's a b******t call, for one, if White was giving himself up why wasn't the whistle immediately blown? Two, if White was giving himself up, why did White get up, why not just remain down on the ground if you're giving yourself up?

I thought this officiating crew was the worst this season. Whatever team is in the Super Bowl they better pray to god that they don't get this officiating crew.

This guy smithgdwg is just one of the most negative posters around. He hasnt made a lot of posts in the Warriors thread but every single one of them ripped the Dubs. Not surprising that he would make silly posts about Jimmy G
Let's take the focus off of individual posters and go back to talking about the game.

Yep yep and yep. There is no question that its great to have that great WR ONCE you get the other pieces taken care of. Bill Walsh did that after the Niners had won 2 SBs and he had shored up the lines and defensive backfield. When he knew the team was solid at the key positions he went out and traded up for Jerry Rice. But I would much prefer to have a great offensive line and average Wrs than the reverse.
