Rock bottom started in 2015. Most people are just waking up to it. Ya'll always agree with the realists, just a year or three too late.

I believe in Lynch and Shanahan. I believe they are both strong football minds. Lynch seems like a great leader, a charismatic guy, and a person that has surrounded himself with smart people. Shanahan doesn't need much explanation -- he had great success in Atlanta, comes from a tremendous background (i.e. his father), etc.

However, there have been a lot of great football minds who failed as head coaches or general managers. There is no guarantee we're going to be good again. Yes, our team is young, and there is a lot of room to grow. The mistake people make is clinging to the narrative of "we're young, and therefore our players will grow and get better, and will become a great players." There's no guarantee any of these young players amount to anything. If this were true, you wouldn't see situations like the Browns being perpetually awful. Sometimes rebuilding efforts don't work out.

I don't think we will get worse, but I don't think returning to a 2012 level of competitiveness is a guarantee.

Great Post.

I think he's in the parking lot talking about THE Ohio St. University.
The Niners are 3 and 28, and their only 3 wins ALL came against the Rams. The ownership is sending out surveys to see how imporant winning is to your experience at the game. The Niners have not had a Francschise qb since Steve Young.

Did I mention Four head coaches in four years?? Four head coaches in four years, let that sink in.

0-16 is a given, pray the Browns win so the Niners get the top pick

I agree, this is concerning, and it reeks of Jed York meddling with the front office too much. This is why Lynch and Shanahan getting 6-year commitments was a big deal -- it's arguably a sign that York is maturing a little bit, and acknowledging that sometimes less is more.

Sure, York could still push them out the door, but he's on the hook for those salaries no matter what. I think Lynch/Shanahan have a long leash.

This is pretty much bottom.

Not quite. 8 games in, we already have 15 players on I.R. and we could be adding 3-6 more starters this week. That's not even counting players like Fusco who are playing through some tough injuries.

DE Ronald Blair (designated to return/returned Week 9)
DE Tank Carradine (designated to return)
WR Aaron Burbridge
G Joshua Garnett
LB Jimmie Gilbert
CB Prince Charles Iworah
DB Chanceller James
DT Chris Jones
DB Don Jones
LB Donavin Newsome
CB Will Redmond
LB Malcolm Smith
RB Joe Williams
CB Asa Jackson
DL Arik Armstead

In short, it's about to get far far worse. Half way through 2017 and we're secure for ensuring we've been the most injured team 4 years in a row now.

We have to get rid of all these Glass Joe's.

Agreed

It just means the team is both bad and soft. Which is far worse than just being bad.

How many of those players on this list would even make a playoff-caliber roster like NE or Seattle? How many of them would've made our 2012 squad?

Hint: not many.

Not many but many were starters so when you can barely field a competitive team, it only exacerbates the issue in year 1 of a rebuild.

And to another's point, more players will have less to play for so some will start milking the IR too.

i said that yesterday. we are mentally soft which has been proven when we could not make plays to win close games early,... and we are physically soft. excuse me for being negative but its the truth. this team is what they are. injury refs are against us excuses not withstanding and i believe the coaches have no clue how to fix any of it

I'll tell you what. They can't. It's on the players and those who can show grit and battle through this with true character will be here next year and the rest will be turned over just like we saw this past off season.

Bottom is 0-13 and KS pulls his Powerpoint presentation that he used to quit on the Browns and force feeds it to Jed.

Tomsula's team played better than we have. He got 5 damn wins. This team will be lucky to get 2.
